Michael Dirkson is a 2009 OF with a 5'10'', 160 lb. frame from San Jose CA, who attends Bellarmine College Prep. He has an average size frame, with athletic proportions and some room to fill out his still maturing body. Dirkson showed some feel with the bat that will become even more pronounced as he gets stronger in the coming years. He has a nice approach, showing the willingness to let the ball get deep and using his short swing to pepper the ball to the opposite field. He showed good bat control. His hips work well, suggesting that as he gets stronger he will occasionally bang the ball through the gaps for extra bases. In the field he threw accurately to the bases after aggressively moving to the ball. His release will have to speed up, but at this point he seems to focus on fielding the ball cleanly and making an accurate time. Fundamentals are a strong part of his game.
