Evan Busby is a 2008 MIF with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from Chico, CA who attends Pleasant Valley HS. He has a strong, compact build with good overall body life. Busby is a good runner at 7.07 and 4.42 from the left side and ran the bases aggressively and can steal a base. He showed very good quickness at second base during the games, making a number of sparkling played and showing nice range. Busby's arm strength will limit him to second base at the next level and could work on shortening his release. Offensively, Busby is a switch hitter with ability from both sides of the plate. From the right side Busby has a quiet approach with a quick, aggressive swing with a flat, line drive swing plane. From the left side Busby has a bit shorter swing and makes more consistent hard contact. He tends to get out front from both sides rather than let the ball get deep on him. Busby has an advanced feel for the game and is going to play above his tools. Coaches will enjoy having him in their lineup as a top of the order hitter and leader on the bench. Busby is a good student, too.
