Ryan Gray is a solidly built 2005 infielder from Melbourne, FL, who could profile best to third base in the future. He especially has good strength through his hips and torso. Gray showed us some good power potential in batting practice and during the games. He gets good extension to his swing and gets the wood bat head out to the ball pretty well. Gray hit a triple during game competition and drove a number of balls to the wall in batting practice and probably hits his share of home runs during high school competition. Defensively, Gray showed some nice softness to his hands with a quick, low release on his throws. He has nice MIF type actions and shows excellent first step quickness and instincts. Ryan is a very good student.
