2003 Sunshine West Showcase
With one of the best baseball bodies we saw in the Sunshine West showcase, Woolsey stands 6 foor 3 and 195 pounds with a strong looking build. Listed as a primary pitcher, we liked him even better with the bat. He can pitch with a 77-80 mph fastball showing late life and some sink. He showed a change-up and curveball in the mid 60's but the fastball was his best pitch. As a 1Bman, he showed a playable glove and plenty of arm for his position but the potential power in that bat was more interesting from a prospect standpoint. He can punish the ball and hit a HR with good bat-speed. In California there are lots of right-handed pitchers, but not as many powerful bats like this one. He should be drawing some attention to his bat soon. Good student.
