Jared Cohen is a 2005 C from Boca Raton, FL. You aren’t going to find any better athletic bodies on young catchers than on the 6'3", 198 lb. Cohen. He’s strong and angular and loose and could get even stronger as he gets older. His whole set up at the plate projects power. He has a calm, balanced set up with excellent hand position to start his swing. Cohen’s arms seem to be a bit long for his size and he uses them to get very good extension through a level, on the ball swing. Cohen showed a bit of impatience with breaking balls on the outer half during games, but took a very good batting practice. Defensively, Cohen has good arm strength and can shorten up his footwork and release in a number of ways to get his pop times under the 2.00 mark. He’s also a good runner for his size, which helps in his projection. Keep a close eye on this young catching prospect. He has a chance to be very good.
