Daniel Hopkins is a 2008 1B/P from Cranston West HS, residing in Cranston, Rhode Island, with a 6'3"/180 pound frame. Daniel has a tall and lean frame. He hits from a slightly closed stance with a knee lift trigger. Hopkins has a top hand release and a line drive swing plane. He uses the whole field and centers the ball well. Daniel has long arm action from first base with an accurate arm at 72 mph. He receives the ball well at first base and needs to improve his arm strength. He pitches from a high 34/4 arm slot with clean arm actions. He falls off in his delivery and uses some effort. Hopkins has life on his fastball at 80 mph and mixes pitches well. He has a 68 mph curveball and a 71 mph slider. He needs to improve his breaking pitches to get more hitters out. Daniel is an excellent student.
