At 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds, Hutchinson has a sculpted body and a taylor made build for a powerful catcher. His actions are all strong and sharp. He showed plus bat-speed that we measured in the 92-94 mph range on a laser with wood. That bat-speed translated well to his game swing as he showed Major League power and an offensive-minded approach at the plate. He showed a slightly opened batting stance and held nothing back as he explodes through the ball. He remains within himself throughout the swing, made adjustments and the ball showed a tremendous jump off his bat. Behind the plate he showed quick actions and plus arm strength throwing with 80mph velocity on his throw down. He showed a tough mentality leaving no questions about the serious approach to his hitting and catching duties. He even got on the mound and showed 87-88 mph velocity with an 80mph curve. He is a good draft prospect with outstanding academic records. This kid is a big time prospect, remember his name!
