Joe Marangella is a 5'8" 2005 infielder from New Jersey who profiles to second base in the future. His hands and actions are good for the middle infield, but his arm strength is a bit below average for shortstop at the highest levels. Marangella has better first step quickness than his 60 times indicate and his speed plays real well in games. At the plate, Marangella hits out of a crouch and uses his upper body strength well in generating some good bat speed. He gets the bat head through the zone and hit well in both batting practice and in games. Marangella is the type of hitter who is going to hit the ball where it’s pitched and maximize his chances to get on base. He appears very comfortable on the baseball field. Joe is a good student.
