2007 California Underclass Showcase
Zach Sullivan is a 2008 C/OF with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Fresno CA, who attends Clovis West HS. He has a strong, stout build on a large, good frame. Suillivan has the attributes of a D1 bound catcher. Offensively he has a chance to hit. His hands are good and strong. Sullivan has a nice set-up and swings the bat with balance. His hips work well to provide some power and at contact his body creates leverage. He gets his hands through the ball well and can drive the ball to all fields. Though he is not fast, Sullivan is a good baserunner. He reads balls in the dirt well and that shows good baseball aptitude and instincts. Behind the plate he also has good tools, along with being a hard worker. Sullivan blocks well and is a solid receiver. His catch/throw skills are solid now, with a good transfer and nice footwork. His low pop-time in the workout was 2.05. All told, Sullivan is a steady, solid player and will bring a lot to the catching position at the D1 level. He plays for one of California's top high school programs and will enter college much further ahead than most high school catchers. Sullivan is also a strong student.
