Jake Mitchell is a 2008 RHP with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Overland Park, KS who attends Blue Valley West HS. He has a compact athletic build and good present strength. He looks like a position player on the mound but only pitched. Mitchell as pitching mechanics that are outstanding in their simplicity. He has a very balanced turn and throw delivery that virtually guarantees that he's going to pound the strike zone, which he does with all his pitches. Mitchell's fastball was consistently 85-87 mph and was heavy down in the zone. His curveball topped out at 70 mph and had nice spin and consistent depth to it. He mixed in a few 74 mph change ups that he could use more often. Mitchell threw to contact and was rewarded with quick outs. He's a very mature pitcher who we're betting has tons of success at the high school level and will continue to have success at the college level. Mitchell is also a good student.
