2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Britt Johnson is a 2009 OF/3B/1B with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Morgantown, PA who attends Twin Valley HS. He has a nice square shouldered athletic frame with a good strength projection. Johnson ran the 60 in 7.32 and threw 78 mph from the outfield in drills. He showed good fundamentals and athletic smoothness in the outfield and his arm works plenty well enough to project that it will continue to get stronger in the future. Offensively, Johnson hits from a tall, open stance and opens early to start his swing instead of closing off. He'll need to get closed at some point and get directional to the pitcher if he's going to use his strong body. Johnson does show some power potential in his swing when his timing and balance is on but needs to get more aggressive in his approach to pitches. He has the tools to hit but has some work to do to become consistent and use those tools. Johnson is an outstanding student.
