2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Brian Ferrante is a 2006 MIF/OF from Northwood HS in Irvine, CA, with a 5'9", 165 lb. frame. Ferrante plays the game hard and is fun to watch. He took a fastball in the ribs during one of the showcase games and didn't budge. He shows good speed on the bases with a quick first step, and also shows that first step quickness defensively in the middle infield. Ferrante has good actions with soft hands and showed good body control on slow rollers. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with an upright stance and a high hand set. He shows very good bat speed with a line drive swing plane, and shows good bat control and uses the whole field. With his short and compact swing, he is very quick inside and showed some pop to the pull side during the games including a triple inside the LF line. Ferrante will be a good top of the order hitter who will get on base and make things happen.
