2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Chase Joiner is a 2006 RHP/3B from Hopkinsville, KY, with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame. He throws from a tall and fall type delivery and repeats his delivery well. Joiner's arm speed is good and his arm works well. His fastball was 83-85 mph with heavy sinking action. We didn't see a breaking ball, but Joiner threw a 70 mph change up that had nice deception to hit. Joiner also showed prospect potential as a corner infielder. He threw 80 mph during infield drills and ran the 60 in 7.74. He has a line drive swing plane at the plate with good bat speed and shows gap to gap power. Joiner made solid contact and looked like he knew how to hit and was confident of his abilities. Joiner is a solid two-way prospect for the next level with a good upside.
