Merritt Sosnoskieis a 6'1-185 1B/LHP from Front Royal, Virginia. Merritt has an athletic build that profiles well at many different positions. A primary OF with 7.07 sixty speed, he showed athleticism and college potential tools in the field. Showed 82 mph arm velocity from the outfield with very smooth athletic release. At the plate he is balanced with developing strength. A LH hitter who can get more out of his lower half, he still scalded balls in batting practice and the game. He showed good power. Merritt was one of the last pitchers to throw during the event and was well worth waiting for. On the mound he showed a 84-86 mph fastball with excellent location horizontally, a 63-65 mph curvebal with a lot of late life, and a 70 mph change up that looks to be a plus pitch. A LHP, he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with well above average arm speed. Mechanically, Merritt gets a lot out of a strong lower half. Merritt has the making of a high level prospect, with two years left of development. He will draw attention from scouts and recruiters in the near future. He was named to the Top Prospect game as a postion player and pitcher. Merritt is a very good follow who is also an excellent student with a 3.9 gpa.
