Shinn is a 6-3, 205 lb right handed pitcher from North Carolina who also catches. He keeps his elbows exaggeratedly high during his delivery and throws with a high 3/4's release point and some downward angle to the plate. Shinn repeats his delivery well. His fastball was 80-82 mph and he threw a 71 mph curveball with a big, rolling break. Shinn doesn't have much deception in his delivery and relies on keeping the ball down in the strike zone and spotting his pitches to be effective. As a position player, Shinn threw 69 mph during catching drills and had a best pop time of 2.14. He has a quick, short swing at the plate more similar to what a smaller player would have and hits best to right centerfield. Shinn is an excellent student off the field.
