Omar Veloz is a 2017 C/SS with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Los Angeles , CA who attends Cathedral HS. Strong well proportioned athletic build, projects well physically. Right handed hitter, simple and efficient swing mechanics with a direct path to the ball, keeps his hands tight, handles the barrel well and makes solid line drive contact, hits within himself and uses his strength well. Quick and energetic blocker behind the plate, has very good arm strength but tends to stand up to throw with a pause before release, correctable with coaching, 2.07 best pop time. Good student.
