Gerald Hein is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Kennewick, WA who attends Kennewick HS. Big strong athletic build. Tall delivery with simple mechanics, bit cross body on release, high 3/4's to over the top slot, short stride out front, low effort release. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, will get both arm side run and glove side cutting action, works downhill with his fastball and misses low, good angle to the plate. Throws both a slider and curveball, slider the better present pitch, will drop slot a bit but gets good sharp biting action, got lots of swing/miss on his slider. Big breaking 1/7 curveball keeps hitters off balance. Did not observe a change up. Right handed hitter, balanced set up, simple swing mechanics, mid to opposite field contact. Playable defensive actions at first base. Good student.
