Derek Jacobs is a 2014 LHP/ with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Parkland, FL who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Jacobs has a medium sized frame with a lean build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Jacobs has an extended release with a lower effort delivery. He uses a full windup and maintains good balance throughout. Jacobs finishes online and gets some extension out front. He lands with a soft front leg which limits current arm speed and velocity. He throws strikes and can cut his fastball on occasion. Jacobs also throws a 12/6 curveball at 70 MPH with good shape to it. He also throws a change up at 68 MPH. Good student.
