Ryan Beard is a 2015 1B/LHP with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Meridian, ID who attends Rocky Mountain HS. Beard has a large frame with a big build. Defensively he moves well around the bag and has good footwork through the ball. Beard has athletic actions and moves real easy at 1B. He has good arm strength up to 79 MPH and has good hands. At the plate, Beard starts with a tall stance and has a longer lifting swing. He showed some pop with 2 home runs in BP and has some power potential. Beard pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose easy arm action. He uses an early hand separation and repeats his delivery. Beard has good run on his fastball and has feel for his breaking ball at different shapes and velocities. Interesting two-way prospect, excellent student.
