John Magnuson is a 2015 MIF/RHP with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Elk Run Heights, IA who attends East HS. Compact athletic build, looks taller than listed. Right handed hitter, no stride approach with limited lower half use, rotational swing, short line drive contact swing, has strength in his hands and squares up the ball well, high average approach. 7.41 runner, athletic actions on defense, gets feet in good position to field the ball, long easy arm action with some arm strength, tends to stab at the ball at times with his glove, correctable. Also pitched, standard leg raise delivery, full arm circle, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped at 81 mph, mostly straight. Threw both slider and curveball with two distinct shapes, threw strikes with all pitches and was effective. Good student.
