Sam Newton is a 2005 right handed pitcher/outfielder from Joplin, Missouri with a projectable pitchers body at 6 ft. 2 180 pounds. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a rotational delivery. He has a stiff, sling style arm action. His fastball topped out at 80 mph with good tailing action in Ft Myers. He throws a big sweeping 10-4 curveball that has a nice bite to it. His curveball was his best pitch with a 70-73 mph range. He looks like he has more in him and we've seen him in the upper 80s before. He is much better than what we saw in Ft Myers. Sam is a good student and will be a good pitcher at the next level.
