Jacob Garrigan is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Houston, TX. Garrigan is 6'2" with some strength to his 170 lb. frame. He has sound delivery mechanics and a mid-3/4 release point with good arm looseness that makes him project in a big way. Garrigan does tend to open up early and show the ball slightly, and lacks deception at this point. Garrigan’s fastball was between 81 and 84 mph. He showed a good feel for a 72-75 mph slider and this is a solid second pitch for him. Later in his three innings of work he started throwing what looked to be a split type change at 73 mph, and this was a very good pitch for him as well. Garrigan works quickly, and did a good job of throwing strikes with all three pitches. We liked the way that Garrigan swung the bat, too. He showed good power potential and bat speed and centered the ball consistently. He's a very interesting player and a good student.
