Jacob Ashcraft is a 2005 RHP/1B from Pilot Point, TX. Ashcraft is a big bodied 6'5" pitcher with an interesting pitching style. He has an easy delivery with a smooth and controlled arm action, and it looks like he’s going to throw pretty hard. However, Ashcraft’s top "fastball" was only 78 mph in Waco and he pitched at 75. It appears, though, that every one of Ashcraft’s "fastballs" was actually between a cut fastball and a slider. Ashcraft comes across his fastball at release with a low elbow and puts consistent good movement on the pitch. Ashcraft also threw a 65 mph curveball that was loose, but consistently in the strike zone. Ashcraft threw strikes low in the zone and cruised through three innings.
