Bret Dahlson is a 2010 RHP/3B/1B with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Yorba Linda, CA who attends Junipero Serra. Dahlson has a medium plus frame with some present strength. He has an athletic build with room to fill. Dahlson ptiches from a 3/4 slot with a long extended arm action. He has good arm speed and ptiches with effort. He gets sink and armside run on his fastball at 86 mph. Dahlson throws a slurvy breaking ball on an 11/5 - 10/4 plane. It has good sharpness and break to it. He really turns over his change-up and gets good armside run and sink on it. Dahlson is able to throw his change-up for strikes in any count. He changes speeds well and keeps hitters off balance. At the plate, Dahlson starts with a slightly open stance and uses a rhythm approach in the box. He generates good bat speed and is a front foot hitter. Dahlson makes solid contact and has a smooth stroke. He keeps his hands inside ball well and has some pop. Defensively, Dahlson showed good 3B actions and solid footwork. He is a good defender and a legit 2-way prospect.
