Erik Schmidt is a 2005 RHP from Pennsylvania. He is a 5'9" right handed pitcher with great enthusiasm for the game. He throws from a full sidearm release point with a long, slinging arm action. Schmidt’s fastball topped out at 75 mph with the expected running action when down in the strike zone. Schmidt also throws a 65 mph small slider and will change speeds on his fastball. When he’s down in the zone Schmidt can be very effective but he can’t afford to get the ball up in the hitting zone. Schmidt also had a nice tournament with the bat, getting a couple of sharp hits, including a triple to left field. He runs very well and has a playable arm from the outfield. He's a crafty pitcher who can fill the zone, but might be an even better prospect as an outfielder.
