Wow, I should have waited ten seconds.... Joey DeMichele, the Devil Bomber, connects for a one-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the 9th to come from behind 2-1 to beat UNM 4-2 and snatch an upset from the jaws of defeat. Amazing. Sorry loss for the Lobos. |

Bethune-Cupcake nearly beat Florida State, who broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 8th to win 6-5. And I also consider Arizona losing to Seton Hall 4-0 a upset.
Which was the worst upset? |

Looks like UCLA should have used their ace tonight instead of saving him. USF has a very sound, tough team. They did. Cole has been their Friday night starter all season. He went 7.1 IP but was outpitched by Kyle Zimmer. Now your Bulldogs have to face Trevor Bauer. Requiescat in Pace, FSU. |

This is going to be a very tough 3 days on me being at work and having to watch the D1 scoreboard to find out the scores. So we play Creighton tomorrow. Anyone know anything about them? I heard they are a pretty good team, but play in a not-so-tough conference. My impression is we are sitting in the cat bird's seat. Yes, Creighton is good, but they are a defensive team that beat UGA in a battle of who could score the least. That is a game the Beavers will win every time. :p Seriously, the fact that Creighton and Georgia had difficulty scoring on each other made me feel much better about our chances. Sammy G will likely shut the Bluejays out. Tough game against an unlikely 4 seed, one that shouldn't have been anywhere near as close as it was, but the next two should be typical Beaver wins, IMHO. |

Three more upsets today, all in the Lone Star State.
- Kent State from the lowly MAC upends national #7 Texas, 7-5. (Someone accused another poster here a couple days ago of having no credibility for picking Kent Sate as his dark horse to upset a national seed. Hmmm....)
- Baylor defeats national #8 Rice, 3-2.
- Independent Dallas Baptist beat host TCU, 3-2.

Yep. Bad call, and it probably did cost CSF the game. They ended up losing 1-0, but that trapped base hit should have scored the runner who was on second. |

After a 3-3 day Friday, the Pac-10 goes 6-0 Saturday.
- Ariz LW: Must beat Seton Hall then Texas A&M tomorrow to stay alive.
- ASU WW: Plays the winner of the Arkansas/UNC Charlotte elimination game.
- Cal LW: Must beat national seed #8 Rice then Baylor to survive.
- OSU WW: Plays the winner of the Creighton/Georgia elimination game.
- Stan WW: Plays the winner of the CS Fullerton/Illinois elimination game.
- UCLA LW: Must beat San Francisco then UC Irvine to win their own regional (I mean the regional they stole from the 2NQ Mustard Buzzards).

I agree. Plus it looks like a rain delay in Houston, and I heard the Texas announcers say the weather was coming their way. Does that help the home teams under fire (Texas and Rice)?
TCU is the first #1 seed to be defeated. |

Creighton and Georgia in extra innings now, tied 4-4 in the 11th. Have to think whoever wins will be plenty tired to do much with Osich's stuff. Maybe he'll meet Georgia at some nightclub and make them lose.
Cal and Rice tied at 3 in the 8th, in the middle of a rain delay. |

The more I see of Scott Schultz, the more impressed I am. And this is a freshman who often gets called in to bail out a starter who has not thrown strikes (Osich, Wetzler, Nygren). He is going to be an awesome asset...in Nashville and in Oregon State's future. |
