I'll be swinging for the fences again this week! Can lightning strike two weeks in a row? We all believe our picks are perfect each Friday morning, sometimes even thru Saturday nite Thumbs Upthen.... we find out the final results Sunday evening!Cry

You're swinging for the fences, yet the only series you don't vote for a sweep is Oregon State over Wazzu? Whaaaaa?

Watch out for UW. Notice they pitched TWO of their starters against Portland yesterday. They're getting serious... desperate.

OK....I'll go for the gusto OSU 3-0Toast

ASU74, does the guy on the right pitch for the Arizoregon State Sun Beavers?
What's up with the orange and black unis?

BTW, those listening to the Oregon State game, Mike Parker has stated a couple of times that Conforto now has the conference lead in homers, but that is not quite correct. ASU's Abe Ruiz has 11, same as Conforto.

That is the Nike "rebranding" ASU "fear the fork" and all that jazz. no thanks to dearly departed Lisa Love.

The return of black to the Sun Devil attitude is a nod to the football teams of the 50s that wore black helmets. That combined with the strength, power and attitude black exudes made it an obvious choice for a third primary color. Additionally, Sun Devil Athletics has long embraced the majesty of the Arizona landscape, making copper, one of the states most recognized resources, a natural choice as an accent color. Loo Flush

BTW
Did ya catch my change of heart earlier to:
OSU 3-0

FYI
Ruiz just went downtown bottom of the 1st against UW

ASU74
Here we sit with the final week coming upon us. The predictions were:
ASU74 AZ
Kendall UCLA
Dodger Matt AZ
Riverduck UCLA
ConnorOSU AZ
OpihiMan UCLA
BB41751 Stan

Now here is where we stand:
Ore 19-8
AZ 18-9
UCLA 17-10
Stan 17-10
ASU 17-10

Not even RD picked the Ducks who now are the ONLY team to control their own destiny to win the Pac.
We have FOUR Civil Wars that can determine the Pac Crown next week.

Ore at OSU
ASU at UA
Cal at Stanford
USC at UCLA

It will be a battle next week!

Pac 12 Player & Pitcher of the Week (Week 14)

ASU74
ASU74
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — OREGON STATE junior designated hitter Danny Hayes has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week and STANFORD junior right-handed pitcher Mark Appel has been named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for May 14-20, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.

Hayes went 8-for-14 (.571) last week, garnering three home runs, 10 RBI, one double and four walks over four games. The junior led off the weekend series at WASHINGTON STATE with two home runs and five RBI as the Beavers won, 10-2, on Friday. Hayes kept the momentum going Saturday, driving in three more runs and adding a homer and a single. His ninth-inning double on Sunday extended his hitting streak to eight games as Oregon State topped the Cougars, 7-5, to wrap up a 3-1 week for OSU.

This is Hayes’ first career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 60th all-time selection for Oregon State.

Appel struck out 13 at UTAH on Friday, retiring 12 in a row at one point and falling one K shy of his career high in strikeouts. The junior threw a complete-game shutout as Stanford beat the Utes, 6-0, marking Appel’s fourth complete game of the season. It was his seventh game with double-digit strikeouts and the second consecutive week he has struck out at least 10. The Houston, Texas native now is 7-0 with a 2.12 ERA in nine Pac-12 starts.

This is Appel’s second career Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selection and Stanford’s Conference-leading 77th all-time selection. This is Appel’s second Pitcher of the Week award this season, with him first earning the honor on Feb. 28.

Also Nominated (Player): Bobby Brown, ARIZ; Deven Marrero, ASU; Aaron Jones, ORE; Eric Smith, STAN; Trevor Brown, UCLA.

Also Nominated (Pitcher): Mathew Troupe, ARIZ; Jake Barrett, ASU; Alex Keudell, ORE.

Race For The Pac-12 Title

ASU74
ASU74
• Six Pac-12 teams are ranked in Baseball America’s top 25 poll: OREGON (5), UCLA (9), ARIZONA (13), STANFORD (14), ARIZONA STATE (16) and OREGON STATE (23).

• As the final week of the regular season approaches, the race for the Pac-12 title comes down to the final weekend. Arizona is one game back of Oregon as the No. 13 Wildcats host No. 16 Arizona State and the No. 5 Ducks play at No. 23 Oregon State. If Arizona and Oregon finish with the same Conference winning percentage, they’ll be crowned co-champions. The regular season head-to-head tiebreaker only applies to determining the automatic qualifier for the postseason. If necessary, Oregon would get the tie-break as the Ducks took two out of three at Arizona in early May.

• Here are the scenarios for determining the Pac-12 Champion: If Oregon and Arizona both sweep their rivals, Oregon remains the Pac-12 leader and claims the Conference championship. If Oregon wins two of three and Arizona sweeps, Oregon and Arizona will be tied at .700 in Pac-12 play, becoming co-champions. If Oregon wins one of three and Arizona wins all three, Arizona takes sole ownership of the Pac-12 crown.

• Stanford junior RHP Mark Appel is the NCBWA Co-Pitcher of the Week, a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week. He struck out 13 at UTAH on Friday, retiring 12 in a row at one point and falling one K shy of his career high in strikeouts. The Houston, Texas native allowed four hits and one walk in a complete-game shutout as Stanford beat the Utes, 6-0, marking Appel’s fourth complete game of the season. It was his seventh game with double-digit strikeouts and the second consecutive week he has struck out at least 10. Appel is also a semifinalist for the 2012 Dick Howser Trophy, an award given to the top player in collegiate baseball.

• The 64-team field for the 2012 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship will be announced on Monday, May 28 at 9 a.m. PT on ESPNU. Immediately after the conclusion of the telecast, committee chair Kyle Kallander will answer questions from the media via an audio-only telephonic hookup from 10-10:45 a.m. PT. Media representatives who want to ask questions or listen to the question-and-answer session can get the call-in number by e-mailing Sarah Kezele at skezele@pac-12.org.

It has really been fun this year being a fly on the wall listening to all the posturing between the Beaver fans and the Duck fan(s). Now may be the time for both sides to "man up".

A few years ago I made a wager with a Razorback friend of mine. The bet was simple. If ASU won the series she had to wear an ASU shirt & hat during a game at Baum. If Arkansas won, I had to do the same. ASU lost, and I had to wear the Razorback gear at the next game I went to in Packard, which was the Tempe Regional.

The proof that the wager was fulfilled was a photo.

I propose that if the Ducks win this series, that the OSU fans purchase a Duck hat & shirt and wear it at their next home game & the same goes for Duck fans(s). If you loose the series you have to purchase & wear Beaver gear and wear it at your next home game.

The proof that each sides wager is fulfilled are the photos to be posted here on Perfect Game.

If you wish to participate all you have to do is post on this thread that you accept!

Whatch say Oregonians?

Thank you for your vote of confidence. The picks are in; now let the chips fall where they may. Seeing my Devils go down in a 1-0 game & having Brady loose his last game as a Devil was hard. They may now go 0-3 this weekend to the Wildcats.

Congradulations on sharing the Pac 12 Basball Crown! This is the second year in a row the Bruins won the title on the last day of the season!

RiverDuck:
Ya had me sold on the Ducks winning the crown. All of that is history now. It is now time for all the Pac teams to show Post Season Character. It is all about the next 10 games, not the last 10 games.

The only goal my Devils had availible to them this year was to be Pac 12 Champions, but that was obviously not ment to be. We WILL be there next year next year to mix it up with ya'll in the post season.

Welcome aboard!

Give RD a little just a little bit of a break. He is standing as a solitary Duck now that it seems duckling-Duckfan127 seems to have left. Did RD meet with you Bevs at the game & ya'll get to share a friendly adult beverage?Toast

I hope Kendall is wrong and you guys get sent to Rice instead of LSU. Since I have no dog in the fight this year, I'll go there & pull for ya (or any Pac team for that matter). Since BeaverQuist is in San Antonio it would be a just reward for his service to our country* to get the oportunity to see his Beavers without having to travel far.

Be careful what you wish for. I have never trusted CSF. Regardless of the quality of their team for any given year, they almost always start playing at a much higher level in the post season.
