It could get very crowded at the top by the end of todays play. If OSU drops another one to Cal and UCLA beats the Ducks......
this is what it will look like:
OSU 13-5
ASU 13-5
UCLA 14-7
Cal 13-8

......which will make the Pac title up for grabs down the stretch. ASU still has to face UCLA & The Oregon clubs have their rivlary series. BTW, Cal can still dark horse their way to the title.....they still have to lock horns with UCLA. It could come down to the final at bat in the last game played. It ain't over till it is over!

  • Two other very high average scores: 5.12, because 12/17 correctly pickedASU and Stanford sweeps.
  • Eight of 17 correctly picked OSU 2-1 over Cal.
  • Only 3/17 picked a UCLA sweep. Average score was an even 3.00.
  • The lowest score this week was Wazzu/UNLV: 1.82. ONly 1 person correctly picked UNLV 2-1.
  • Nobody got six or five series correct; seven players correctly called four series.

Great job! Well, my ballsy week paid dividends for me this time King-dude, but I don't think I'll find my way out of the basement area before the end of the season. Beavers sweeping Sun Devils really hurt!

Beaver fans:
Barring a total meltdown I believe Oregon State will win the Pac and get a National Seed. I think ASU will also get a National Seed and the PAC will be well represented. But.....be careful for what you wish for. Since the CWS new format in 1999 only 6 of 12 National Seeds have won the CWS and being the #1 seed is almost the kiss of death. Only in 1999 did the #1 National Seed win the CWS - Miami.

CWS winners (Bold is a Natonal Seed)
1999 Miami
2000 LSU
2001 Miami
2002 Texas
2003 Rice
2004 CS Fullerton
2005 Texas
2006 Oregon State
2007 Oregon State
2007 Fresno State
2009 LSU
2010 South Carolina

Last year ASU was dominant! #1 seed....Vegas odds didn't have anyone even close to them to win the CWS. ASU was a lock to win it. They got to Omaha and the result was 2 and gone. They had set a school record and won their first 24 games, but that didn't mean diddly in the post season. I wish they had won their last 24. It is not the best team statistically that wins the CWS, it is the team that has the guts to win it.

I obviously will pull for my Devils, but if they stumble along the way, I'll become a temporary Beaver fan, should they stumble, I'll support the Pac team that goes deepest into the CWS!

No score update until tomorrow, when the AZ/Wazzu series ends, but I can tell you already this will be the second lowest high score all year (if Arizona wins) or the lowest (if Wazzu wins).

I can also say, with only two weeks left, that it's getting to crunch time for a few players. I will post a new thread on this probably tomorrow on your scores and some advice on how to go about the final two weeks. But in a nutshell, there are about four people in the 17.x range, four in the 16.x range, and the remainder below 16. For someone in the 16.x range to overcome the leader (assuming he maintains and does not fall below his current level), that person would have to score 20 to 24 on the next two weekends. Not impossible, but you have to pick very carefully and the teams might have to accommodate you with a sweep or two.

Bob, what you say about the Trojans is probably true, but remember, a man wearing a Trojan cap on his head is also more likely to score than a man who is not wearing Trojan gear.

Going into this weekend I really thought the out comes were no brainers & we would have a couple of people (hopefully myself included) post some perfect scores. But noooo. We all got doggy style It is a good thing we pick for Glory & not Greenbacks.

Pefect timing for the Beavs to play their worst now. For Stamps to suggest they have not played their last game at Goss is ludicrous. So hope they travel across the country. The projected regional is a joke. Did you look at the teams they will play. All I can hope for is the way they played at PK last year would be nice. Our bats have been getting hotter, and the last time you faced our Tuesday starter, he is now starting on Sat. So Good luck.

Well, RD, I hope your team WILL rely on luck. I think Coach Casey lit a fire in some players and assistant coaches backside these last few days and luck will have very little to do with this weekend. So...... we'll see who is the best in the valley. I know the answer to that as long as the "right" team shows up in your sugar daddy stadium. And if you remember nothing else I said this year, remember this.........

You thinking your team is better than a bunch of pissed off beavers is more dangerous than bare-backing a 5 dollar whore. So bring it!!!!

Thats the civil war fire I like.. even if you are 3000+ miles away. Go Ducks!!

RD and FB, I'm loving it. I've posted a true story that I think gets at the heart of the Civil War.

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an Oregon Duck. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were Ducks too. No one really knowing what an Oregon Duck was but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like fleshy fireworks. There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristen has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Duck." Then, asks the teacher, "What are you? "Why, I'm a proud Oregon State Beaver," boasts the little girl. The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Kristen why she is a rebel. "Well, my mom and dad are Beavers, so I'm a Beaver too." The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. Would you be a moron too? A pause and a smile. "No, says Kristen." "Then, I'd be a Duck."

Kneel!
UCLA won the Pac 10, Congradulations Bruins!

Baseball at all levels can be a very humbling game. ASU & OSU will testify to that.

At this point, all slates are clear and 64 teams will each have a chance to take all the marbles in Omaha.
Good luck to all 64.

Thank you for making the season fun, especially for people who do not live in the locale of the team they pull for. The next few weeks should prove interesting & challenging for the teams who will represent the Pac.

ASU 3+Fork Off Razorbacks will be tough & looking for revenge from last years Super. Considering ASU's inconsistant play I would not be suprised if the Razorbacks win the regional.

CAL 1-2 Baylor/Rice will be too much for the Golden Bears.

OSU 3+ Do not take Georgia for granted. It will be a mistake.

Cal and Rice tied at 3 in the 8th, in the middle of a rain delay.

Not much rain here, lots of lightning & wind. Field conditions should be OK.

This is amost the 1st "rain" ...drizzle really since the 1st of the year.

Cal wins 6-3 over Rice.
