Over 8K in Baum Stadium friday afternoon for Delaware St.

Nice.

South Carolina had 8242 Friday, 8242 Saturday, and 7933 Sunday. Of course it helps that it was 80 degrees on Friday and the mid 70's on Saturday.

Just a great weekend at the ballpark.

Some nice attendance figures in this thread so far....TCU's is not quite as impressive. But we had 6,099 on Friday, then 4,401 on Saturday, and 4,393 on Sunday.

So these are now our three highest attendance games, plus the three day series was our highest by about 4,000 people.

Still not like what some schools pull, but I think it was good for #9 in attendance for the weekend.

I think those are good numbers. Good to see the support across the country for college baseball.

Just an observation

As some of you may recall I made a post about 1/3 of the way through the season talking about how I didn't think UConn deserved to be ranked. I felt that way much of the season but they continued to win so I let it go and couldn't argue with wins. When the game with USC was coming on ESPN I said I want to watch to see what this Uconn team is all about. After watching them my statement from 1/3 through the year stands. I'm not impressed at all. Here are some observations I got from them.

1. Very cocky, came in to USC's stadium running their mouths whenever they could
2. Not impressed with Barnes at all. If this is the best they have they are in serious trouble. South Carolina knocked the cover off of anything he threw for 4 innings.
3. Barnes is a childish punk. So you strike out 3 batters in the first inning. IT'S JUST THE FIRST INNING, don't go off the field on national TV dropping F-bombs to th crowd. Grow up. Then after getting shelled over the next 4 innings as he goes off the field the crowd is getting on him a little big and he again resorts to dropping F-Bombs to the crowd. Childish.. If i was the big league team that took this guy, I would be very worried right now.
4. Acted like they won the CWS with 1 run in th 1st. I know you haven't been there before, but you still have to act lik you have. Notice USC whn they won the game. Just a hand shake and leave the field.

After the way they acted I hope that USC, droppes 12 or 13 on them today, but they won't because they are respectful.

Other observations-

Vandy looked insanely good
USC looked pretty good as well
UNC looked great in their sweep
ALL the pressure is now on Florida while MS. St. is just having fun, they weren't even suppose to be here.
How about Texas' bats finally waking up. (Where did ASU's go? They scored 29 in 2 games at their regional)
Virginia still looks good.

I wish my Hogs were still in it, but I'm still enjoying watching one of my favorite college sports! Good luck to everbody today!

They did come in last night with a little attitude. I'm not sure if that was part of the gameplan or not but all it did was get the crowd even more fired up.

I still think they have a pretty good team. This series is not over yet.

I can't resist. I got branded as being a partisan loony around here at times, but it was frustrating that nobody who covered the sport nationally was seeing what I saw in this UNC squad. They are just gamers, plain and simple. They might go 0-2 in Omaha or they may just as easily win the whole thing. One thing I don't think people will be guilty of any longer though is ignoring them.

Admit it you really don't hate saying it.

Gamers win games. And they are fun to watch and cheer for. We have a bunch of "gamers" on our team in Columbia. They never quit and they never give up.

Hope we can get another win and get out to Omaha with you guys.

The big thing with programs like South Carolina and LSU, who have great facilities, is if you're them, why would you go on the road when you can get 7K gate for an opponent like Appalachian State at home?

I'm not saying it's right, but just bringing some perspective to the debate.

I'm pretty sure that plays a big part in scheduling. When you sell 5-6 thousand season tickets and concessions you are talking about a lot of money.

South Carolina will travel around the state for some midweek games. 2 trips to Charleston (Citadel and CofC) and 1 trip to Greenville (Furman). This year they are going to Florence to help Francis Marion open their new stadium. That game will hurt us in RPI and SOS but it is something I guess we wanted to do to help Francis Marion out.

It is a game that should be played every year in my opinion.

Going to Chapel Hill will be tough if we are fortunate enough to get that far. Fun? Yes. Tough? Yes.

South Carolina is good enough to hang. Just get through the regional first. You wanna be the best you have to beat the best.

No doubt about it. I tell people all the time it is not supposed to be easy to win a championship.

I love this time of year. Looking at the brackets there are some really good matchups.

Good luck to you guys. Hope we meet up in Omaha again.
