True. Ducks have really struggled against ranked teams the past couple seasons. It is good momentum for you guys going into the postseason...hopefully you won't have to travel too far because Horton himself said the Ducks can't win on the road.

Seriously, congrats on the win though. Chase was a bruiser.

LSU really helped it's hosting case today. If they can pick up 1 or 2 more I'd say it's pretty solid.

On a small side note...(sorry DM not trying to hijack the thread but I know you enjoy these too) here is this week's attendance report:

Click here, or click save as (it's a .pdf)

Things that pop at me as a (biased) Beaver fan:

LSU played 12 more home games this year than OSU, South Carolina played 14 more. SEC/ACC schools on average played >10 more home games than OSU.

Beavers had about 22,500 more people come to a game this year than Oregon, despite playing 4 less home games, Beavers averaged about 1,250 more people per game.

OSU had the highest average of any Pac-12 school as of this release(we beat out ASU by an average of 6 people per game). ASU may have surpassed Beavs with their finale (if only the Beavs had another game).

West of Texas, Oregon State is only 2nd to Hawai'i in average per game, as of the release.

I am sure Oregon would pull in those numbers if we had two national championships, terrible football and basketball programs, and was sitting near the top of the league the last two years. But all things set aside, our softball program is awesome, probably more awesome than our baseball team will ever be. Hey, maybe I will go down and watch the super this weekend. Uh.. nah.

It wasn't meant as a direct insult to Oregon, more a comparison as your program is the closest to us geographically (and success wise the past few years).

Football and Basketball are irrelevant because those are different seasons...but that is the typical Duck response anytime Beaver success in Baseball is discussed. It's a very childish school-yard way of arguing (like "Oh yeah well I have a pudding cup in my lunch so it doesn't matter that you are better than me at kickball"), not neccisarily dissing you...I just thinks it's pretty dumb when the Ducks (or Beavs) are less successful in a sport they refer to the other sports to justify and deflect.

Also, this is a baseball forum not softball, so I won't get too deep in discussion on this one. The reason Ducks, and pretty much any team, have success in softball is if they land one really good pitcher because that pitcher can pitch almost every game in the season. The entirety of a softball team really comes down to one player. Ducks got a good pitcher, Beavs are in-between them...have a good one coming in next year.

UW needs to win 1 game to edge the Ducks IMO if the Ducks sweep, better RPI vs, 2nd in Pac-12, new stadium (and yes that does play a contributing factor to the committee), geographical separation (Ducks are 50mi from Beavs and I don't know the last time a regional was in Washington), and they won the head to head series.

Cal Poly is in.

LSU won yesterday and that should lock them over the Ducks.

I'd say they have an edge on Kentucky though.

I can't see the West Coast getting 4 regionals this year (too many teams East with attractive traits), OSU, Cal Poly, and most likely UW are in.

Ducks most likely won't, and shouldn't host, they can't win a series against a good team, and can't hit against good pitching.

I will say their bats are coming around, and their pitchers are performing...I wouldn't want them in my regional (though they can't win on the road).

They count postseason games in those averages, or no?

Not sure...they should!

Out of cuiosity...if California vs Oregon goes to extra innings do they stop the game, have a kumbaya session, kick around a hacky sack, and decide the winner with a tree-hug-off?

Yeah.. The pac is playing really poor right now. Beavs might lose their series as well. Does not matter really. I am thinking the best situation for the ducks is to travel down to Cal Poly. Might be their best shot IMO. All other regionals do not look good. Washington is trending down, and I would be surprised if they make it out of a regional. Same goes for the ducks.

According to RPI needs Beavs should have locked up their national seed today. Ducks going to Cal Poly would be interesting as that regional had a high likelihood of being paired with corvallis.

Looks like regional host sites will be announced before the conclusion of UW vs UCLA. The Huskies really could've used a win today to sneak in as 16...
