Pac-12 picks: Week 9

Interesting to note how much Oregon State's SOS and RPI went up this week after a couple of weeks of PAC-12 play under them.

Cal Poly hosts Fullerton this weekend, we shall see...Cal Polys schedule is a bit better than ULL (93 vs 155), who not only plays pretty much no one...but also plays any good team on a Tuesday or Wednesday against weaker pitching (no wonder everyone raves about ULL offense...you play against the good teams crappy pitchers and bad teams pitchers). I don't know what I'd do with ULL if I was on the committee...you can't punish them for their conference...so I guess you'd have to give them a national seed but give them a tough regional and a tough potential super matchup? Their is no fair way to go about it...the good news is there is a 64 team tournament and everyone that deserves one does get a shot, the teams that get "snubbed" every year...I hate their whining. 64 teams make it, if you didn't get in you weren't that good to be that close to the cutoff.

Kendall's Projected Field of 64

Kendall release his projected field of 64 here

As a Beaver fan a couple things stood out to me that weren't covered in his notes...Oregon State is not a national seed and Oregon is not a host. Kendall must be expecting the Beavs to beat down the Ducks and the Huskies to take the PAC12 is my guess. Texas as the number 1 overall (with Oregon going to that regional!!!lol!)? Did I miss something? I guess he must be seeing that the BIG12 is down and Texas seriously should not lose a single game the rest of the year. Texas current body of work is definitely not worthy of the top seed, 4 game series split with CAL, series loss to Kansas...only a sweep of Oklahoma as a good win.

Yeah. I appreciate Kendall putting this out...it means absolutely nothing, but gives us something to talk about. I didn't see OSU getting the autobid, seeing that now the UW/OSU seeding doesn't make sense. Maybe he's making an assumption that the Beavs won't keep making leaps and bounds in the flawed RPI (we seem to be jumping daily at this point).

I've stayed out of it until now...but the #1 team in the RPI (Florida) has 13 losses and has lost 3 weekend series. Also non-conference losses to Illinois (twice), Florida Gulf Coast, and Florida Atlantic. An average of the human polls would probably be more indicative than the RPI or the ISR (and yes the ISR favors my team and I'm still saying that). The fact that Stanford is #27 in the RPI with a 13-16 (and they are on the WEST COAST....WHAT?!?!?!) says something too.

The RPI and ISR doesn't take into account the "eye-test" which is really what most of baseball is about and that is why the RPI is one of the tools that is used at the end of the season...often by the end of the year the RPI usually works itself out and it ends up reflecting what the human polls had already been showing.

I wasn't starting this thread to get into another RPI vs ISR vs Human poll debate. We should really keep those to just one thread.

Cal Poly took Justin Garza to the shed tonight. Garza gave up 9 hits, 7 runs (4 earned) in 3.1 innings. Currently Cal Poly is up 8-0 outhitting CSF 15-3. Those are legit numbers...against a legit pitcher...against a legit team.

Boyds RPI needs is extremely fluid. It changes with the fluctuation of the RPI. Beavs had no chance at top 16, 3 weeks ago according to it...I wouldn't pay too much attention to it for another week or so

Can we lobby for Kendall to continue singing Yeskie's praises so some stupid clueless AD can take him off our hands. Can we start a kickstarter fund to fire Yeskie...if the school/Casey fires him, they get the money?

Dylan Davis is 0 for 4 for the night, he is slumping hard, his avg is down to .286 (which is a huge drop for him) Conforto is on first and you don't bunt? Is Davis just unable to?

Miami, I won't argue or disagree with you because logic completely agrees with you.

However, if I could shed light on my opinions, I will just say as someone that closely follows the program, the pitching staff is successful despite Yeskie and not because of him. The talent comes in due to the program Casey has built, and Yeskie mismanages games, and disgraces our players and program by screaming at these kids in front of a packed stadium while they are on the mound. His game management is awful from even a casual fans standpoint.

He had legal issues a few years back which some of us Beaver fans are still salty that it was brushed under the mat because I did want him to be held accountable for his actions (DUI).

It's a combination of being a D-bag on and off the field, his cocky arrogance, and mismanagement of top level talent that causes us to call for his job. We win despite him, not because of him...again just my opinion.

Dylan Davis is having a nice rebound, very impressed. Pitched 4.1 great innings and is 2 for 3 with 4 RBI (including a 2-run HR). Good to see.

I'm actually near you DM, I'm in Tucson this weekend.

I've been streaming both games, but I've been with my wife, thus the lack of posts.

Always nice to pick up a series win, even better to get it against the Ducks. I hope we keep our momentum going, our RPI is taking off.
