Sam's Stats:

Sam Gaviglio: 4-0, 2 Complete Games, 38.2 IP, 14 hits, 0 ER, 4 BB, 40 Strikeouts (YES 40).

Another note...of the Beavers 12 pitchers that have pitched so far this year only 1 has an ERA over 4.00 (Dan Child with a 9.00 in 5 innings) as a Team the Beavers ERA is 1.96.

Offensively Andrew Susac is hitting .453 after 53 AB...in fact 7 Beavers are hitting above .310

Pretty exciting!

I saw the Ducks when they came out to Hawaii to start the season, they seemed very shaky...no depth in the Bullpen. But it was apparent that the talent was there. Good luck Ducks

Still having issues in the bullpen unfortunately, congrats on the win but the Ducks keep scrambling at the end because their pitching implodes late in the game.

46% of their opponents runs come in innings 8 and 9, and when 15 of their 18 games are decided by 3 runs or less...it makes a huge difference.

Nice move by the coach...that's respectable. On a personal note I dunno if this makes me happy or disappointed. On one hand Hawaii has a better chance of picking up the series win, on the other hand it's always more fun to see a team at full strength.

I gaurantee the kids have learned their lesson, nothing like losing out on a free trip to Hawaii to put you back in your place.

Yeah the Oregon - Oregon State is baffling...both teams have played each other and LBSU, Beavers beat the Ducks and went 2-1 against LBSU versus UO's 1-2.

PREDICTIONS: Pick the best weekend series!

OpihiMan

I know almost everyone will pick South Carolina at Florida as the best series of the weekend, but I find the LBSU - Stanford matchup the most intriguing. Long Beach State has played a tough schedule, and there are a lot of people on who can't figure out Stanford as they haven't played many games...I think the winner of this series (either way) has the most to gain this weekend.

Florida 2-1
Arkansas 2-1
ASU 2-1
GT 2-1
Stanford 3-0
Rice 3-0
Ore/WSU 2-2
WSU 2-1
SM 2-1
LSU 2-1
TT 3-0
Ala 2-1
UConn 3-0
Baylor 2-1

Would UCSD go the independent route initially like CS Bakersfield?

No, they have to be sponsored by a conference to move up. Their plans to move up are contingent on the Big West's sponsorship.

Gunna be interesting in 2012 when the Big West also receives Hawaii...I wonder how big the are planning to expand?

I agree with you Kendall about WF...does Fullerton taking the first 3 from Hawaii (despite having 8 suspended players) surprise you? (Also Hawaii lost their top player, Kolton Wong, and starting shortstop/#2 pitcher, Jesse Moore, during Friday's game)

FYI Florida, as of right now ASU can't participate in postseason...you probably knew this just forgot

Here are some interesting reads concerning ASU and postseason:

Sorry Kendall. Still not beleiving your love affair with Stanford. No disrespect to a very good Stanford team, but IMHO ASU or 'Zona has a much better chance, just to talk about the top two. Oregon and Oregon State will finish higher in the Pac than what Stanford has going for them. Your prediction that a current 10-6 Stanford would be a regional host is leakin like a sieve.

There's a lot more to this decision with the Big West than just baseball.

The conference doesn't want an odd number of teams, which is why it's doubtful that only one school will be added.

The Big West is tired of taking in D2 teams making the transition to D1.

The Big West doesn't want to have to divide up the slim pickings 12 ways that they get from March Madness.

The Big West isn't took keen on Bakersfield's academics (poor in the academic standings) and the size of the school (smaller school population by far than any of the other public schools in the conf).

The Big West had a chance to add both UCSD and Bakersfield and chose not to and doesn't have any set plans at this time to bring the matter up for discussion again. Could that change in the future? Sure.

Then I'd figure the Big West has to be stoked to get Hawai'i

OphiMan, it's hard to be sypmathetic to a guy playing golf in Hawaii. Although I played golf at a course in Oregon today, the temp was 38 degrees, and it either rained or hailed most of the time.

You guys. I was driving a u-haul today, moving my sister-in-law. At least I got to listen to part of the game in the truck.

Harsh crowd...

I'm actually moving back up to Portland mid-April, I'm looking forward to catching some games...if any of you guys can't make the games I'll help you out
