Update on Friday's Hawaii-Portland Game (Tsunami)

As of 2:40am Hawaii time they have announced that the University of Hawaii sporting events will still be occurring despite the incoming Tsunami. This can of course change when the first wave is supposed to hit Hawaii in about 30 minutes.

I'll try to keep you guys posted (assuming I don't lose power/ cell reception)

Update on Friday's Hawaii-Portland Game (Tsunami)

So far on my coast everything looks ok, on Diamond Head the ocean retreated about 200+ yards and exposed the reef then surged in...no damage has been reported but the Sun still isn't up. Largest wave reported was 8 ft. on Maui so far.

***6:40am waters still surging no major damage to report, waves reported over 12ft and 100ft inland on the Big Island

****Hawaii Closed their campus for class today but the game is still on

Oddly enough this is the 2nd time in a year this has happened to a college from the state of Oregon.

Add 8 more shutout innings to Gaviglio's stats, picked up another win tonight in his 8 inning outing en route to a 7-0 Beavers win over New Mexico State

Susac, in case anyone is wondering, is hitting .429....these Beavs have potential (but are very comfortable flying under the radar for now)

Cal dropping bsb, UCSD going D-1

From what I heard from someone fighting the Cal movement to drop Baseball (my source is a major role player in the donations and effort to save Cal baseball) was that the persistence from the University to drop the sport has little to do with money (I heard on the donation side that pledges have more than surpassed the threshold). One of the University's main reasons is the need for more parking and they plan on leveling the baseball facilities to make room for more parking on campus where parking supposedly is a big issue. This would explain why despite the money raised they have reinstated other sports (including RUGBY) but not baseball.

Beavs are looking good, pitching is fantastic, and as long as we keep cracking those bats it should be a very good year...Ducks reign as best team in Oregon didn't last too long IMO
