UCLA Cautiously Optimistic About Their Bullpen

It'll be interesting to see how UCLA will deal with all the hype surrounding them heading into the season. Something that haven't done well with in the past.

Either way, they have the best 1-2 punch in the nation with Bauer and Cole and we should see this team in Omaha again this year.

Good luck on the season Bruins.

Oregon State's Andrew Susac/Sam Gaviglio

Gaviglio has looked great so far and Susac is picking up where he left off during summer ball. I'm still a bit skeptical on the team as we haven't faced great competition thus far. It'll be interesting to see how we do in the Long Beach series as a warm up heading into Pac 10 play.

Good column, Kendall. If our offense can match are talent on the mound, I think we could be in for a surprisingly good year. It's going to be a fun Spring to watch this team grow (hopefully in confidence).

It would really be hard for me to get out of the "fan" mentality, but I think I could do it. Besides, I probably already lived through the glory days of Oregon State baseball, haha.

Has a broken bone in his wrist. He will be sidelined this weekend against Arizona State.

You can definitely play through an injury like this. Right now he just has to wait for the swelling to go down. I think the biggest part of this game that it will effect is throwing.

You will probably see Susac in the DH position more frequently now. And it will somewhat hamper him in the hitting department. It's tough to say though as I've seen some players basically not be effected by it all.

Good points by all here. I'm actually hoping the Beavs can fly under the radar and keep from moving up too high in the polls.

Better to show up at the CWS and play a team like UNC with them thinking you're going to be easy to beat.

That made me smile. Heels look good this year.
