TCU 2, Baylor 0 (FINAL)

By the looks of what I saw from their two freshman yesterday, don't look for TCU to have much of a dropoff after Purke and co. leave.

Baylor pitched very well, also. Two hits allowed from 5.0 innings of relief work by BU bullpen including two true freshman. BU was a little snakebit offensively. Lined in to two double plays in the late innings, one which looked to be headed for a double down the RF line by Logan Vick. I actually though Baylor compted OK at the plate despite just two hits, as strange as that sounds.

Smith commented after the game that this was perfect example of how the bats can influence the game. there were several ball hit by both teams that would have been HRs last year and there was no wind whatsoever.

Just a well pitched game by both teams. A little over 2 hrs long.

Cron is an animal. All I know is that he wore out Baylor pitching at the Houston College Classic, including Verrett, who was really on his game at that point.

Alot of guys have played well and the Bears have found different ways to get it done the past few weeks. But, you can look at two moves that have really stablized things during this stretch.

The first is moving RHP Trent Blank to the weekend roattaion. He has been nails. The other move is 2B Lawton Langford to the leadoff. Kid has been on base constantly.

Besides that, the Bears just have a bunch of guys that really compete. The pitchers aren't anywhere near overpowering, but they don't walk people and mix it well. They manage the game well and have avoided the big inning. Offensively, they have alot of guys who understand the zone. Not alot of poor ABs.

Just three Big 12 bids? Has never happened and never will. No OU? Hmmm

Not to criticize, but just saying...

But, I suppose that, as of this moment, just three do have regional worthy resume's. Just saying that, even in down years, the conf. has gotten at least five, and will again this year.

For the record, the success of Baylor this year should serve as an example of how inexact and generally unreliable these recruiting rankings and ratings are. You won't find any of their current players amongst the higher ups of many prospect rankings nor BU among anywhere near the more heralded recruiting classes. It's part of what makes college baseball so great.
