Welcome DuckFan127!

Ore 2-1 this is going to be a great series
OSU 2-1 a little home cooking for the beavs gives them the slight edge here (mostly wishful thinking here)
USC 2-1
WSU 2-1 one year after making Omaha, Cal is now in danger of not making the post season
ASU 3-0 if Utah wins even one game I will be shocked
UCLA 2-1 probably the best OOC matchup of the season in Pac 12

not as bold as connor, but i feel good about these picks

McArdle gone already after 2.0 IP. I don't think he was doing badly, the leadoff homer notwithstanding. But I guess Marquess's strategy today is to throw a bunch of relievers all day.

Garrett Hughes at 6-8 is a full foot taller than the first batter he faces, John Tommasini, at 5-8.

Hughes is near the top of Stanford's ERA chart, at 2.30, and he has a Stanford-best OBA of .190 over 15.2 IP.

and now hughes is gone after 2 innings and one run.... interesting strategy i guess

OSU 2-1 beavs gave one up at utah WSU is better than Utah, hopefully though it was a good wake up call
ASU 2-1 UW is not going to get swept twice in a row.
USC 2-1 puts duckies one win away from a conference title (which beavs will spoil Big Grin)
UCLA 2-1 hard to believe cal went to Omaha last year...
Stan 3-0 Utes glad to end conference play
Ore 3-0 sweep and lose ground in RPI, or go 2-1 and REALLY lose ground in RPI lose lose situation

last weekend hoping the weather clears up for saturdays civil war game as am taking the wife and kid.
OSU 3-0 payback for last year duckies still will host a regional
ASU 2-1 ASU positions itself to be in the discussion next year
UCLA 2-1 UCLA gets natl seed, that they hopefully dont squander away...again.
Stan 3-0 wraps up regional host, and maybe natl seed
UW 2-1 Fuskies make 6 pac 12 teams in the tourney
Utah 2-1 Utes showed some heart this year and own single game wins over several teams (including OSU and UO). give them a couple years to recruit pac-12 type athletes they will be a force to reckon with.

its been fun, looking forward to postseason play with 5 or 6 pac12 teams

One seed at a road Regional?

i think if the beavs had performed better against (ie swept) utah and wazzou there might be room for this discussion. i think the beavs will be a very dangerous 2 seed wherever they land, and with a little luck we can get a situation similar to 2008 when we went on the road for the regional but were able to host the super..

Day two

We now have a three-way tie for 1st, and with ASU one game back, we could end up with a four-way tie if Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA all lose tomorrow. Stanford is officially out of the running.

  • Oregon State 3, Oregon 2. For the second day in a row, the Beavers overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat in-state rival Oregon 3-2. OSU’s Jace Fry was not as sharp as his counterpart Jake Reed, but both left the field in the 7th inning with a 2-2 tie. Redshirt sophomore Nick Rulli, in his third atbat as a Beaver, got his first hit--an RBI double that scored the winning run and tagged Reed with the loss. But the game’s most dramatic play is the one that ended it. With one out and JJ Altobelli on third, Aaron Payne hit a line drive to left field. Michael Conforto caught the ball at his feet and fired a one-hop strike to catcher Ryan Gorton, who tagged Altobelli out for a game-ending 7-2 double-play. Dylan Davis pitched to one batter, inducing a groundout, and earned the win. Tomorrow’s scheduled starter, Dan Child, pitched 1.2 IP for his first save. Aaron Jones was 3 for 4 for the Ducks. Reigning Pac-12 player of the week Danny Hayes was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs on a 2-run homer in the 6th that tied the game.
    OSU leads series 2-0.
  • ASU 9, Arizona 7. RHP Trevor Williams pitched eight innings in a 9-7 win before 5,677 fans at Hi-Corbett Field in Tucson. Williams is the Pac-12’s only 12-game winner this season. Arizona’s Konner Wade lasted only three innings and surrendered 7 hits and 7 runs (6 earned). Down 7-2, the Wildcats came as close as 8-5 after six innings. They also scored two in the bottom of the 9th, but came up short. Andrew Aplin went 4-for-6 with 3 RBIs on a 3-run homer and three runs scored, Deven Marrero had 3 hits and an RBI, and Joey DeMichele had 2 RBIs. Trent Gilbert was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs for the Cats.
    Series tied 1-1.
  • UCLA 6, USC 5. Trailing 4-0 after five innings, UCLA scored 5 over the next two frames to take a 5-4 lead heading into the 9th inning. The Trojans tied it with a couple of singles. In the bottom of the 9th, UCLA loaded the bases with a Cody Keefer double, an IBB, and a single. Then, with two outs, USC’s Martin Viramontes walked Cody Regis on four pitches to “drive in” the winning run. Cody Keefer was 4 for 5 with 1 RBI and 2 runs.
    UCLA leads series 2-0.
  • Cal 15, Stanford 5. Stanford implodes. A few short hours after losing an 18-inning heartbreaker to their archrivals, the Cardinal give up 17 hits and 15 runs to the Golden Bears in an embarrassing display that would make a reasonable selection committee member wonder which team would show up to a regional in Stanford’s unis. With Tony Renda playing short, 2B Derek Campbell had a great day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs.
    Cal leads series 2-0.
  • Washington 5, Washington State 2. Ty Afenir was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI for the Dawgs. Collin Slaybaugh was 3 for 4 and drove in both of Wazzu’s runs.
    Washington leads series 2-0.
  • Game one. UC Santa Barbara 6, Utah 2. Utah’s Joe Pond (3-10) added to his leading worst number of losses.
  • Game two. Cal State Bakersfield 7, Utah 5. The inutile Utes surrendered four runs in the 1st en route to being swept in three (of their four) games in Bakersfield. Starting pitcher Ben Mordini (0-5) lasted only 1.0 IP, giving up all four earned runs. Utah scored 3 in the 7th and 2 in the 9th, and outhit the Roadrunners 10-6, but that’s all she wrote. See ya next year, Utah.
    Utah is swept 0-3.
Standings
     Ariz 19-10
    Ore 19-10
    UCLA 19-10
    ASU 18-11
    OSU 17-12
    Stan 17-12
    UW 13-16
    Cal 12-17
    WSU 11-18
    USC 8-21
    Utah 7-23

beavs are 2 games back with one to play, man that loss to Utah is looming large now. and while with tiebreakers even if the beavs had won that game they would not get the auto bid they would still be co champs, but if they had swept both Utah AND Wazzou we would be at 19-10 and still have a shot for the outright title.... well as my grandma used to say "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, wouldnt it be a wonderful christmas" or my favorite "wish in one hand and Sh-- in the other and see which one fills up faster"

also if Horton doesnt get coach of the year, i will be surprised

not that this will change my position in the standings much, but for the record DM i also picked a beaver sweep...

Welcome aboard!

Give RD a little just a little bit of a break. He is standing as a solitary Duck now that it seems duckling-Duckfan127 seems to have left. Did RD meet with you Bevs at the game & ya'll get to share a friendly adult beverage?Toast

I hope Kendall is wrong and you guys get sent to Rice instead of LSU. Since I have no dog in the fight this year, I'll go there & pull for ya (or any Pac team for that matter). Since BeaverQuist is in San Antonio it would be a just reward for his service to our country* to get the oportunity to see his Beavers without having to travel far.

* Thank you for your service!

i second that motion!

Ducks get #5 seed and could face Cal St Fullerton in their regional and if i am interpetting the matchups right there is a possibility for a civil war battle for the national title, which would be AWESOME!
