I don't disagree with the ducks falling 3 spots, they lost 2 of three to a good team... I am a bit flabbergasted at the fact that we only dropped 2... yeah we lost both games in one day with crappy weather on the road, but we didn't just lose those games we were embarrassed in those games.

maybe I am just being over sensitive, but I just HATE the huskies SO much. and they are so bad this year, and its like we just didn't care saturday.

Stan 2-1 Ducks have yet to beat a top quality opponent in a three game set and have difficulty hitting tough pitching
OSU 2-1 Beavs tend to struggle against teams they should destroy (see Washington, San Diego). at home though so should take care of business

UCLA 3-0 Bruins are starting to heat up

ASU 3-0 Devils just too powerful

UW 3-0 Cal Stinks, the huskies just took 2 of 3 from the beavs, possible let down? dont think so

Ariz 3-0 just... yeah...

Thanks as always Kendall!

one of the highlights of my week. Thing i like most about this is that both Oregon and Oregon state are Natl seed AND would be on opposite sides of the bracket, i would LOVE to have a Civil War for the national title!

(if both teams make it to Omaha, think they will share a plane ride over?)

Interesting article about a way to counter the side effects that have gone farther than intended from the 2011 switch in bats.

Thinking about it, it does make sense... but I just thought, in watching OSU, that it was a product of a program slump. If it is such a problem, though, why not just go back to the old bats?

they made the bats behave like wooden ones (like the pros) so why not have the ball behave like the pros too?

Standings after day 1: lots of possible high scores this week as everyone except WildCard85, who was the only one to predict a stanford sweep (and being a stanford fan can you blame him?) can still possibly claim a perfect week. BeaverBob leads the way with 34 possible points, but right on his heals are Riverduck, new picker BTExpress (but being an admin, can we really call him a newby or a rookie?) and yours truly with 32 possible points. ASU 74 is sitting at the bottom, but as said previously can still get a perfect week, so anything can happen.

DAY TWO RECAP

OREGON 6 STANFORD 4

Ryon Healy hit two home runs to lead No. 13 Oregon to a 6-4 win over No. 21 Stanford in Pac-12 Conference play at PK Park on Saturday in front of 3,892. Healy hit a pair of two-run home runs to right field and finished 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored. The Ducks’ first baseman started the scoring with a two-run shot in the first inning putting Oregon (23-10, 15-5 Pac-12) on top 2-0 after one.
He added the second two-run shot in the fourth capping a three-run inning to give the Ducks a 6-1 lead. Healy’s two homers gave him nine for the season and the four RBI ran his season total to a team-best 40

OREGON LEADS SERIES 2-0

OREGON STATE 3 USC 0

Andrew Moore threw 7 2/3 innings in a scoreless start as he and the seventh-ranked Oregon State baseball team shut out USC, 3-0, in front a season-best 3,103 fans at Goss Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Michael Conforto homered and Tyler Smith and Ryan Barnes drove in runs for the Beavers, who now look for a sweep of the Trojans Sunday in a 12:05 p.m. PT start at Goss Stadium.Moore held the Trojans scoreless through 7 2/3 innings, scattering four singles while issuing two walks and hitting one batter. He induced inning-ending double plays in the fifth and seventh innings.

OREGON STATE LEADS SERIES 2-0

UCLA 10 WASHINGTON STATE 1

The ninth-ranked UCLA Baseball team scored six runs in the first two innings and got a complete game from junior right-hander Nick Vander Tuig to claim a 10-1 series-clinching victory over Washington State on Saturday afternoon.
Vander Tuig picked up his third consecutive win to move to 7-3 on the year, after allowing one run on seven hits while striking out eight in his nine innings of work. He also did not walk a batter in the game to record his second complete game of the season. Tanner Chleborad took the loss for the Cougars, lasting just 3.2 innings and giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits while walking two.

UCLA LEADS SERIES 2-0

ARIZONA STATE 5 UTAH 1

The eighth-ranked Arizona State University baseball team won its fourth straight Pac-12 series with a 5-1 win over Utah on Saturday at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City.
The Sun Devils (27-12-1, 10-7) used a three-run first inning to take an early lead and starting left-hander Ryan Kellogg gave up just one run in eight innings as ASU took its eighth series win and its fifth conference road win of the season.

ARIZONA STATE LEADS SERIES 2-0

CALIFORNIA 8 WASHINGTON 1

Led by the outstanding pitching of junior right-hander Trevor Hildenberger and a two-hit, three RBI day from freshman third baseman Mitchell Kranson, Cal baseball defeated Washington, 8-1, Saturday (April 27) at Husky Ballpark in Seattle.
The Bears broke a 0-0 tie with five runs in the top of the sixth inning, highlighted by Kranson's RBI single through the middle of the infield, and later junior shortstop Mike Reuvekamp's double down the right field line that scored three runs off of UW starter Austin Voth (4-5, 6.0 innings, eight hits, five runs, one earned run, three walks, four strikeouts).
Hildenberger gave up his lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Cal sealed the win with three runs in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by junior designated hitter Devon Rodriguez and a two-run single by Kranson.

SERIES TIED 1-1

ARIZONA 4 ALABAMA STATE 3 (10)

Arizona scored twice in the eighth inning to tie the game and then capitalized on a dropped pop up with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to overcome visiting Alabama State, 4-3, before a crowd of 2,582 on Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field.
With two outs and runners on the corners in the 10th inning, Arizona's Kevin Newman stepped to the plate with a chance to extend his 11-game hitting streak and send the Wildcats home with a thrilling victory.
Newman delivered only one of the two outcomes and, fortunately for Arizona (27-14), the latter proved true.
Second baseman Einar Muniz dropped a high pop up in shallow centerfield, which allowed Scott Kingery to score the game-winning run. Newman's hitting streak came to an end on the error, but the Wildcats extended their own streak to nine-consecutive victories in their home ballpark.
It was a heartbreaking outcome for Alabama State (27-21), which let a two-run lead slip away in the eighth inning.

Standings after day 2: BeaverBob, BTExpress, and Riverduck all stay put and all still have shots at a perfect week. looking at the numbers if both Oregon and Oregon State win, BeaverBob will win, if Oregon wins and Oregon State loses Riverduck wins, if Oregon loses and Oregon State wins, then BTExpress wins. several other people have shots at perfect weeks as well, but that would require all the favorites to lose today (something I doubt will happen) ASU74 moves up one spot and is no longer all by himself in the bottom, and Florida Beaver seems to be giving RD a run for his money for perennial bottom dweller, but he seems to like it there

hate to break it to ya BB but if the Duckies lose, so do you. OREGON STATE 6 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1
[/font]Ben Wetzler scattered six hits and a run in eight innings to help send the seventh-ranked Oregon State baseball team to its first ever three-game sweep of USC with a 6-1 win Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium.
Michael Conforto and Andy Peterson each had two hits and Dylan Davis drove in two runs for the Beavers, who swept USC for just the second time as the 1952 club downed the Trojans in a two-game series. It was the Beavers' third Pac-12 Conference sweep of the season and helped OSU improve its overall record to 34-8 this season while the team's league mark is 14-4. USC, meanwhile, is at 16-26 overall and 8-13 in Pac-12 play.

OREGON STATE WINS SERIES 3-0

WASHINGTON STATE 4 UCLA 3

In a game with eight errors and eight infield singles, it was one of each that ultimately decided Sunday's Pac-12 Conference baseball game between UCLA and Washington State.
Collin Slaybaugh beat out a ground ball to first base with two outs in the bottom of the eighth and a throwing error on the play by UCLA (27-13, 11-7 Pac-12) first baseman Pat Gallagher allowed Shea Donlin to score what proved to be the winning run for Washington State (20-20, 7-11 Pac-12) in a 4-3 victory.Donlin reached base to open the eighth when he was hit by Zack Weiss's only pitch of the game. Weiss (1-1), the fifth of six Bruins' pitchers wound up suffering the loss. Ian Sagdal sacrificed Donlin to second. Two batters later, Washington State scored the game-winner.J.D. Leckenby (1-2) pitched three shutout innings to earn the win on the mound for the Cougars while Jason Monda worked the ninth for his first-collegiate save.

UCLA WINS SERIES 2-1

ARIZONA STATE 9 UTAH 6

Designated hitter RJ Ybarra's four RBI helped the eighth-ranked Arizona State University baseball team come back from an early deficit to complete a series sweep over Utah, 9-6, on Sunday at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City.
The Sun Devils (28-12-1, 11-7) fell behind by three runs after the opening two innings, but Ybarra hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to tie the game at five runs apiece. ASU added four runs over the final four frames to withstand two lead changes and a tie and secure its second series sweep, including the first in conference play, of the season.

ARIZONA STATE WINS SERIES 3-0

CALIFORNIA 6 WASHINGTON 5 (14)

Washington reliever Zach Wright threw a wild pitch in the top of the 14th inning, allowing Brenden Farney to score the winning run in Cal's 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Huskies Sunday (April 28) at Husky Ballpark. The Golden Bears (20-23, 9-12) ended up capturing the series two games to one - falling 3-2 in 12 innings on Friday before winning 8-1 Saturday and now 6-5 Sunday.
Farney started the rally in the 14th inning with a one-out single to right field. After a walk to Andrew Knapp and a ground out to the Wright by Grant Diede had advanced Farney to third base, the sophomore second baseman scored the go ahead run on Wright's errant pitch. The winning pitcher for Cal was freshman right-hander Collin Monsour, who was one of eight Bear pitchers (six of whom keep the Huskies scoreless through the final 12 innings). Monsour (2-0) pitched the final 2.0 innings and got the Huskies' (14-28, 6-12) Braden Bishop to line-out to the pitcher to end the contest.Washington had taken an early lead in the contest when it scored five runs in the second inning off of Cal pitchers Dylan Nelson and Ryan Wertenberger, but Cal rebounded with two runs in both the third and fourth innings and a run in the fifth inning.

CALIFORNIA WINS SERIES 2-1

ARIZONA 18 ALABAMA STATE 3

Johnny Field homered and Brandon Dixon had a career-high five hits to lead a relentless offensive attack that scored in every inning for Arizona, which routed Alabama State, 18-3, to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.
Arizona (28-14) won for the 10th-straight game in its home ballpark, doing so with season-highs in runs scored (18), total base hits (22) and extra base hits (eight). Seven Wildcats had multi-hit games, while 10 different players scored a run.
The scoring opened in the bottom of the first inning when Trent Gilbert doubled and scored on Dixon's first of three doubles. After Dixon stole his 28th base of the season, he scored from third on a safety squeeze bunt by Zach Gibbons to give the Wildcats the early 2-0 lead.
With a run already on the board in the second inning, Field roped a two-run home run to left field, pushing the advantage to 5-0.
