WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Utah freshman third baseman Dallas Carroll has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week and Arizona State freshman left-handed pitcher Ryan Kellogg has been tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for March 18-24, the Conference office announced Tuesday.

Carroll led the Utes to a pair of victories over Stanford last week. The Salt Lake City native hit .412 in the series (7-for-17) with two doubles, five RBI and a stolen base. He kicked off the week going 2-for-3 against Utah Valley on Tuesday, driving in the game-tying run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. On Friday, against Stanford, he went 2-for-5 with a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning that cut into a four-run deficit. He scored the winning run against the Cardinal on Saturday after producing a leadoff single in the top of the 10th inning, and, in the rubber match, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI to propel Utah to a 7-5 victory. Carroll, who has started every game for the Utes this season, owns a .286 batting average with three doubles, two triples and nine RBI. He is tied for sixth in the Conference with six stolen bases.

Carroll is Utah’s first-ever Pac-12 Player of the Week selection.

Kellogg threw the ninth no-hitter in ASU history in a complete-game shutout on the road against No. 3 Oregon State. The Whitby, Ontario, Canada product moved to 5-0 on the season as he completed ASU’s first no-hitter since Feb. 2, 1993 -- the school’s first ever in Conference play and the second ever on the road. He did not allow a walk in 110 pitches, as OSU’s only two base runners of the game reached on Sun Devil errors. Kellogg, who handed the Beavers their first Pac-12 loss of the season, carried a perfect game into the seventh inning. He is the fourth freshman at ASU to throw a no-hitter and is the first pitcher to throw a no-hitter in a game between two Conference teams since Stanford’s Jason Middlebrook on May 8, 1994. Kellogg has defeated a pair top-5 teams this season, as he beat No. 2 Arkansas on March 2.

This is Kellogg’s first career Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selection and Arizona State’s 63rd all-time. Teammate Trevor Williams picked up the honor on March 12.

Kellogg, who moved to 5-0 on the season, received National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week recognition as well as Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors.

Ah, that one still hurts, as Boyd's effort was so good. But props to the Canuck.

Also, how about Utah getting its first ever Player of the week, and against Stanford?
