Kendall haven't got to see any baseball outside of my Razorbacks this year but have been very impressed with the two freshman pitchers Killian and Poche. Also RS freshman Tyler Spoon continues to have a hit in every game this year (14 game hits streak) and an average over 400 last time I checked. Wish the rest of our team could take lessons from him.

In addition to those pitchers mentioned, might also look at Oest and Waddell from Virginia.

In relief, how about Engelbrekt from Oregon State.

For hitting, I also like Lassiter and Bolt from NC. I also like Spoon (Ark), Gonzalez (GT), and Laird (LSU).

My top freshman so far is Alex Bregman (LSU). Getting done at the plate (OPS .898) and at shortstop. No errors in 49 chances.

Irwin for the Ducks has also been tested early. Allowing 1 run off of CSF lineup is something to be happy about as well.

I don't follow the national scene to know how they compare, but UNC has 2 frosh leading the team at the plate:

Player.............. B Avg..Slug..OB%..OPS..StrikeOut%
Skye Bolt......... 0.472..0.611..0.565..1,176...14.9%
Landon Lassiter 0.452..0.581..0.605..1,185...9.3%
By comparison, C Moran
C. Moran.......... 0.361..0.389..0.520..909......4.0%

Bolt is flashing some impressive leather in RF, but Lassiter has had some struggles at 2B/SS with 6 E's through 10 games. It looks like Zolk may have solidified 2B, and looks like Fox is still letting Lassiter and Russell work through who will be best at SS.

Bolt & Lassiter are the top 2 Frosh in the ACC in:
Batting - #5 & #8 overall, and only Frosh in the top 10
OB % - #5 & #3 overall, and only Frosh in the top 10
Slugging - No Frosh in the top 10, but Bolt is #13, and Lassiter is #19
edited by 77tarheel on 3/4/2013

Who do you think, and why?

For me, it's a tie between Thomas Eshelman/Justin Garza for Fullerton for pitching ....

Hitting is a tough one, but do like what LSU's Alex Bregman is doing right now.
