Anybody watching that game in Eugene today? Every crowd shot shows empty seats galore. It's a beautiful day in the Valley, and the Ducks have a paltry Cal-type of attendance.
Saturday's attendance: 1196 Friday's attendance: 1278
Are those for real numbers? I didn't see Friday's broadcast, but yesterday I saw plenty of empty seats also. Are they counting purchased tickets as attendance at Duck U?

It's pretty pathetic for a team that hosted Supers last year and is ranked in the top 20...

Well, 1200 for this time of year is not bad. Will OSU draw that many for no-name Bryant? I don't know. But do you really think that is 1200 people? And LMU is not a no-name program.

Doesn't look like the Ducks even have 200 in the stands. The video of the third base side only shows 2 or 3 fans. Dodger Matt wrote:

bases loaded double in the sixth. About time.
-- The Beavs are the best baseball team in the in the pac 12, I am just a stupid duck... QUACK QUACK Conforto is a big bopper and Moore is the best freshman pitcher and should be pitching for the ducks!

So their official attendance from that Sunday game was....1378. Really?
I guess PK Park holds 15,000.

It's crazy to see the difference in attendance across the nation. In Arkansas we've played bad teams so far in colder weather (low 40s to upper 30s) and still have had actual attendance in the 4,000s for the weekend games.

I have to say I'm envious of the atmosphere in the South East. Oregon State has been drawing well (thanks to the program's resurgence in the past decade) and a couple others do pretty well but nothing like some of those SEC schools. It be a ton of fun going to one of those games!

Hogfan: 3550 go just to see your Diamond Girls. Top notch!
BTW It should be a good two games between us. Would like to have seen a Williams vs Stanek matchup. Glad to see Vinson found his bat. Great defensively, but he could not get a hit to save his life last year. What do you think of Ficociello moving from 1st to 2nd? edited by ASU74 on 2/28/2013

The diamond girls are great no doubt!
Supposedly Fic was an all American SS so I feel ok moving him to 2nd. With that length man could he cover some distance. If Van Horn is comfortable moving a guy who he says was the best 1st baseman he's ever coached to 2nd I'm ok with it too haha! Vinson is puzzling, I've been waiting on him to come around at the plate. Him and our center fielder Morris are incredibly athletic defensively. Van Horn says Morris is the best defensive center fielder he's coached. He coached Craig Gentry (now with the Rangers) at center so those are strong words.
I'm not going to lie this team is very talented. Pitching is down right nasty, but as always I worry about our offense.

I agree. I saw you guys last year here in Houston in the tourny, at Baum vs SC & at Rice for the Regional. How you guys beat Rice & then Baylor is beyond me. I'm sure Baylor has nightmares over that SR. Van Horn wanted pitching & he got it...big time. Now recruit for some bats & you guys will be tougher than nails.
Talking about Vinson...listening to the game...bases loaded, 2 out & he stikes out.

Heard we loaded the bases with nobody out and three straight strike outs...

Yea, our freshman pitcher Lilek either strikes them out or walks them. In relief last week against Tenn he strikes out the side one inning, then can't find the plate next inning, walk, walk, walk (12 straight balls) and finally gets out of the inning. (In a 5-1 game-slammer woulda tied it.) Very surprised he got the start today.

Love the blog ASU. Something I really think more schools should look in to. It started 4 or 5 years ago as just home games. It built in popularity and they now have someone who travels just to do it. (Sweet gig). They've had over 1000 people on during games before.
Well you took game one. We just can't beat you guys away from Baum. Just have our number...

It looks that way....we just play each other tough. I was in AZ to see the SR when Eibner went downtown b9th , 2 out, 3-2 count to send the game to extra innings. Even when you loose you don't go away easy. Good luck tomorrow against Gongaza.

Oregon State home opener. In between every inning, they show the crowd. And it's a good crowd. I'd like to compare with the stated Duck attendance.

From osubeavers.com:
"Oregon State fans certainly came out in support of the Beavers Friday night to the tune of 2,776 in attendance."

Just turned on the Ducks game against Cal State Northridge. I didn't see any fans in the stands. I wonder if Horton has taken Chip Kelly's approach to football practices -- Close the stadium down to fans and media. edited by BeaverBob on 3/5/2013

I caught pieces of that game today. One, it's Tuesday. Two, it's raining. So I give them a break on those counts. And there were some kids there. It looked like they had given a bunch of free tickets to high school kids.
