I loved him initially because my favorite pitcher will always be the one who is his own DH. Also makes him a commodity for the NL.

I've wondered the same thing. When he burst on the scene as a freshman, he was equally good with the bat as with the pill. But I can understand specializing as a pitcher, if that's what they thought he was best at. But they haven't used him as much as I have wanted. Not as a pitcher nor as a pinch hitter. I want to reward guys with the attitude he has. Give him th pill. Put him in as a pinch hitter occasionally. That would have to give opposing pitchers a raised eyebrow here and there tp see OSU's closer or late relief guy batting in a "must get a base hit" situation late in a game.

Thanks for posting Matt. I've wondered why they haven't maximized his talent and ability to play multipe positions and hit. He started in a variety of positions his freshmen year and was a heck of a hitter.

Alan Simpson has him rated as the number 3 draft prospect for Seniors.

RKPlayerPOS.B-THTWTSchoolHometownSTLast DraftedBirthdate1Mark AppelRHPR-R6-5215StanfordSan RamonCAPirates '12 (1)7/15/19912Brandon ThomasOFB-R6-3205Georgia TechAtlantaGAPirates '12 (4)2/7/19913Matt BoydLHP/1BL-L6-3215Oregon StateMercer IslandWAReds '12 (13)2/2/19914Buck FarmerRHPL-R6-4230Georgia TechConyersGABrewers '12 (15)2/20/1991
Dodger Matt wrote:

I just love this guy.
