Week 12 All but one of the series this week look to be really good, and our nonconference series should be one of the better series in the nation.
- Ore at Ariz
- Stan at OSU
- UW at USC
- Cal at WSU
- Utah at ASU
- Purdue (XP) at UCLA
Week 11 Series
- The conference’s top two teams battle it out in Tucson. Both Arizona and Oregon are fighting for one of the eight national seeds. A series win this weekend will solidify the winning team’s resume for that spot, and give the team the inside track on claiming the conference crown. This series pits the conference’s pitching leader (Oregon) against the offensive leader (Arizona). Arizona is number one in BA, SLG, OBP, runs, hits, RBIs, doubles, triples, total bases, total atbats, total appearances, sac flies, and steal attempts. They are second in homers and stolen bases. Oregon is eighth or worse in ten of those categories. On the defensive side, Oregon is tops in ERA, OBA, batters SO looking, wins, saves, runners picked off, fewest runs allowed, fewest errors. In contrast, Arizona is in the lower half in the conference in nine defensive and pitching categories, including fielding, errors, hits allowed, hit batters, balks, doubles and triples allowed, runs allowed, ERA, and OBA. Game one should be a pitching duel. After that, watch the slugfest.
- A Stanford team on the upswing after beating UCLA two out of three on the road tries to repeat that feat against a struggling Oregon State squad that suffered a series loss to USC after beating UCLA the week before. It’s no question the Beavers play better at home, but playing on the road doesn’t seem to hurt the Cardinal. Stanford and OSU are pretty close in most offensive and defensive categories, but the Cardinal have the edge in practically every one. Given a slight home field advantage to OSU, this should make for a very even series. This series could break the hosting dreams of whichever team fails to win at least two games. Game two is the one to watch.
- Washington is still on the inside of the bubble to make the postseason and needs to play about .500 ball for their remaining 13 games. USC is in the same boat. Add to that the fact that both teams have nearly identical conference and overall records and are in 8th and 9th place, and this looks like an even-matched series. Game one should be a good one.
- Cal failed to gain lost ground last week, getting swept by Oregon. Wazzu likewise failed to gain by losing two games to ASU. Both teams have few chances left if they want to make the postseason. The Cougars need to win two-thirds of their remaining 16 games. The Bears probably have a little more wiggle room than that, but they have fewer games left. This is probably live or die weekend for both teams.
- The inutile Utes deserve a break from the grueling Pac-12 baseball season, so they are traveling to Tempe to lie around the hotel pool, drink some iced tea, and, once a day, get their butts kicked on the diamond by the Sun Devils.
- This week’s nonconference series matches a national seed hopeful from the Big Ten against one of the Pac-12’s national seed contenders. Purdue has all the right numbers, and they’re coming from a region that the NCAA wants to reward with regional hosts. All they are missing is a signature series victory over a warm-weather school from a power conference. [Enter UCLA stage left.] But the Bruins aren’t going to be willing victims. Expect both teams to host regardless of this series’s outcome, but Purdue’s national seed aspirations may evaporate if they don’t take two from UCLA. Purdue’s team ERA is #22 nationally at 2.99 (2/100ths higher than Oregon’s). Oddly, that is only third-best in the Big Ten, as Michigan State and Minnesota have better numbers. UCLA’s is 3.44. UCLA’s .398 OBP is 19th nationally; Purdue’s is a Big Ten second-best .382.
Please use the abbreviations in the bullets above, in the order they appear. (Purdue is XP.)

Ariz 3-0 OSU 2-1 USC 2-1 ? ASU 3-0 UCLA 3-0 If you're trying to do worse than last place, omitting a pick is a good start.
Connor, I hope you average 3 points on your first two picks.

UO- 2-1 Stan 2-1 USC 2-1 ASU 3-0 UCLA 3-0 Starting to come down to the wire. I say Oregon will still have the most wins of all pac teams after the dust settles this week. And I will stick to my guns. I will always take pitching and defense over hot bats any day of the week. And I am sure Casey would say the same.. C Gutsy predictions! I did the same thing this week last year and was rewarded with 4 of 6 sweeps. Ya think lightning will strike twice? Good luck.

I have been taking abuse since the start of this board, and rivals, and all of a sudden I have another fan with me. I kind of liked being the lone soldier, I felt like I earned it, now I have to share it.. Well, whoever it is, guess you are not that bad since you are rooting for the ducks. You can definitely say I am not a band wagon hopper. Maybe its a beav crossing over to the dark side.. Ophi- is that you? It is ok to come out and profess your true colors.. Guys sold out this week.. darn- I was thinking of driving an hour to to a little scouting report. edited by Riverduck on 5/2/2012 edited by Riverduck on 5/2/2012 edited by Riverduck on 5/2/2012

The weekend belongs to home teams.
Ariz 2-1 OSU 2-1 USC 2-1 WSU 2-1 ASU 3-0 UCLA 2-1
RD, Is that your little brother finally making it back to the boards after flying south for the winter? Musta either got lost like most ducks often do or is a little slow. Either way, not too surprising it took it this long.
Oh....no...I got it!!!!! It's a snowbird living in Arizona and finally realized the Ducks had a team again.
Yep. A little slow must be the answer.
Dam. I was wrong! I found the answer to who Duckfan127 is. Check out the link.
