Pat Casey recorded his 600th victory today against the powerhouse Arkansas Pine Bluff.
I'm curious as to how folks would rate Casey from an all-time standpoint. I know he was selected as the Coach of the decade 2000 - 2009. . http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2012/04/baseball_-_oregon_state_12_ark.html edited by BeaverBob on 4/14/2012

Great coach, but IMO, his next challenge is to start a program from scratch, and be successful.

Not quite. Casey just notched his 600th victory with Oregon State. "Casey, who has an OSU record of 600-367-4 in 18 seasons, is the 15th coach in Pac-12 Conference history to reach that plateau. He's now 13 wins away from tying Jack Riley for the most in an Oregon State uniform." Also, "on May 19, 2009, Casey became just the third head coach in school history to record 500 victories with the Beavers when OSU defeated Oregon." I guess those milestone victories just keep coming against scrub teams. ;-)
In seven seasons at George Fox, his baseball team compiled a 171-113-1 record. Casey's all-time record currently sits at 771-480-5.
Horton, OTOH, will probably never reach that milestone. He may have reached 600 total wins (something Casey did a couple years ago), but not with one team. "During his tenure with the Titans, Horton compiled an overall record of 490-212-1 (.698)." Then he left Fullerton for Eugene and rolled back the counter. Currently at 110-99 at Duck U, and averaging 33 wins a season, Horton could break the 600 mark with the Ducks sometime in 2027. Somehow I don't think he'll be coaching Oregon for the next 15 years.

Another thing: "Pat Casey needs four wins to become the 14th-winningest coach in Pac-12 history. That would surpass Washington State’s “Buck” Bailey, who was in Pullman from 1927-42 and 1946-61." Looking at OSU's schedule, I'm guessing that win come against UCLA. Or it could be against the Ducks.

If I recall correctly, 4 of those 600 came against a team named North Carolina Tarheels. I think the Tarheels were either #1 or real close to it when the Beavs whacked 'em.
Oh, wait. That WAS the CWS games. My bad.
