The scout I heard from didn't say anything about it. My guess is that if he was throwing it for strikes he would've thrown a shutout. That thing is unhittable when he commands it.

Winter Haven (FL) went in to Tampa Jesuit HS for the final tune up before the regular season begins with a matchup of two power arms.

Jesuit sent ace RHP Lance McCullers to the hill to face Winter Haven LHP Tyler Pike.

Pike, a Florida State commit is the 13th ranked LHP in the nation. After beating Broken Arrow (OK) in a spring tournament last year to prevent a heavily anticipated matchup between first rounder Archie Bradley and Dylan Bundy, Pike is earning a reputation as a giant killer. Pike sat 89-91 in his first outing of the season, working in and out very well with good command and had his big breaking curveball working very well. Pike threw four no-hit innings before turning it over to the bullpen.

McCullers threw well also, working in the mid 90s, topping out at 96, per usual. McCullers will pitch in front of huge crowds all season as a potential first round pick.

The game was decided in relief, with Luke Borders earning the win with 1 1/3 innings on the mound, and a game winning grand slam in extra innings to lift the Blue Devils to a 5-2 win over Jesuit.
