As we've reported for several weeks was likely going to be the case, the Volunteers have hired the former Cal State Fullerton skipper.

Is money the big reason Serrano took this job? I just can't see leaving a perennial national title contender for a second tier SEC job. I realize that it's the SEC and there's no conference like it, but he's giving up a lot.

The SEC is the class of college baseball for better or worse. TV deal, coaching salaries, etc, etc.

Money and family life are two big reasons for Serrano's departure from Fullerton to Tennessee, yes.

Serrano is going to make about twice as much to coach someplace where the cost of living is about half of where he was coaching.

I hear Andy Lopez as a possible replacement. Anything to this rumor?

Arizona's Coach Lopez should be Fullertons #1 choice...Two Time national Coach of the Year...Eight Time Conference COY...He is tailor made for the Titans and the traditions that program has...It will benefit Coach Lopez as well who already relies on California talent to fill his roster in Arizona...
