Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne announced Sunday that he has made a change in the leadership of the Nebraska baseball program.
"I appreciate the efforts of Mike Anderson and his coaching staff, but I have made the decision to change the direction of our baseball program," Osborne said.
"Mike has done an outstanding job with our baseball program academically, and he enjoyed outstanding success on the field early in his head coaching career here at Nebraska. I want to thank him for all of his hard work and everything he has done for our baseball program."

Anderson completed his ninth season with the Huskers on Saturday as Nebraska swept Missouri in a season-ending doubleheader. Nebraska finished the 2011 season with a 30-25 overall record and a 9-17 record in the Big 12 Conference.
"It has been honor and a privilege to serve our student-athletes at the University of Nebraska over the past 15 years," Anderson said. "I am humbled to have worked with so many great people who shared a vision of positive influence on young men's and women's lives. I would like to thank our coaching staff and extended coaching staff for their commitment to our student-athletes.
"My wife, Kim, family and I have been blessed by our many 'baseball kids' that have entered our lives. We are truly thankful for their efforts and continued relationships. We have loved raising our family in Nebraska and are appreciative of the people who have helped along the way."
In his nine seasons, Anderson guided the Nebraska program to a 337-196-2 record, including two Big 12 titles (2003 and 2005) and the school's third College World Series appearance in 2005. In that season, Nebraska won a school-record 57 games and the Huskers captured the program's first CWS victory.
Anderson guided Nebraska to NCAA Regional appearances in five of his first six seasons, and the Huskers won 40-or-more games four times during his tenure, most recently in 2008. Anderson coached a total of 22 first-team all-conference selections, while 52 of his players signed pro contracts. Under Anderson, 72 players earned academic All-Big 12 honors, including a league-high 15 selections in 2011.
Anderson spent eight years as an assistant coach for the Huskers from 1995 to 2002, before taking over as the head coach in June of 2002.
Osborne said he will begin the process of finding a replacement for Anderson immediately, but does not have any expectation for when a new head coach will be named.
"We will keep our baseball student-athletes, fans and media informed as things progress, but I do not have a definitive timetable for hiring a new coach," Osborne said.
