Looking at this from an ISR perspective, some of the good day 2 matchups:
  • #2 CS Fullerton vs. #17 Arizona State
  • #10 UCLA vs. #18 Cal Poly
  • #11 Mississippi State vs. #21 South Alabama
  • #13 Louisville vs. #22 Miami
  • #7 Oregon vs. #26 Rice
  • #4 Oregon State vs. #31 UC Santa Barbara
There were others that everyone expected would be good on day 2, but one of the teams failed to win on day one. South Carolina vs. Clemson would have been excellent, for example, but Clemson didn't hold up its end of the deal.
Some other games that look interesting, for different reasons:
  • Oklahoma vs. Connecticut. Virginia Tech has to play through the loser's bracket in their own regional to beat both of these teams if they hope to advance.
  • Kansas State vs. Bryant. Little 4-seed Bryant from the NEC knocked off Arkansas in game one. KSU put up some ugly numbers on Wichita State, but they gave up an ugly number too, so they look beatable. If Bryant wins that regional, they come back to Corvallis, where the Beavers took four from them earlier this year (the first a 10-inning 2-1 Beaver win).
  • Indiana vs. Austin Peay. The Governors beat Fullerton last year in the Eugene regional and finished 2-2. This year they upended Florida and face Indiana, who were down 4-1 to Valparaiso in the 9th and needed a two-run walkoff homer to win it. This looks like a winnable regional for the Govs.
