2016 Top Prospects

Matthew Cocciadiferro  OF - 2016 - Dumont, NJ
New Jersey Tech

Cocciadiferro showed off the biggest arm strength of the weekend from the outfield, topping at an impressive 92 mph with a fast right arm. That strength also proved to show up on the mound as he topped out at 86 mph with his fastball. A right-handed hitter, Cocciadiferro showed a consistent feel for the barrel with separation and nice carry off the barrel to pull side.

Dwayne Marshall  RHP - 2016 - Piscataway, NJ

After impressing during his round of batting practice in which he showed nice extension in his strong and quick right-handed swing, Marshall continued to drive the ball in game action using all fields with intended driving the ball wherever it was pitched. A primary shortstop, the uncommitted Marshall also impressed with his 85 mph throw across the infield.

Matthew Elliott  RHP - 2016 - East New Market, MD
Shenandoah University

With a strong and well-proportioned frame Elliot showed the best velocity of the upper class portion with a top fastball of 87 mph. He remains balanced throughout his delivery with a tight and quick arm action at release and also showed a 12-6 curveball with late bite and depth when he stayed on top.

Matthew Rubayo  OF - 2016 - Skillman, NJ
Marist

Rubayo showed off two-way potential at the next level as he impressed both in the batter's box and on the mound where he ran his fastball up to 85 mph. A right-handed hitter, Rubayo showed interesting strength off the barrel as he was able to drive the ball out of the park to all fields with extension in his swing and quickness with his hands.

Kyle Bakely  RHP - 2016 - Sewell, NJ

An uncommitted right-handed pitcher, Kyle Bakely showed off a quick arm through the backside and worked steadily in the 82-84 mph range with his fastball, filling up the zone. Showing an overall feel on the mound, Bakely also showed two different breaking balls with distinguishable shape and the ability to throw each for strikes.

Brandon Laventure  OF - 2016 - Schenectady, NY

Laventure impressed throughout his round of batting practice as he put some of the better bat speed on display in his left-handed swing. Staying short and quick to the ball Laventure showed jump off the barrel to his pull side and showed the ability to square up live pitching as well, effectively getting the barrel to the ball.

Austin Romine  RHP - 2016 - Glen Allen, VA
Randolph-Macon College

Sitting comfortably in the low to mid-80s and peaking at 85 mph, Romine showed a quick arm with a high three-quarter arm action which resulted in consistent and effective running life to his arm side. Attacking primarily with his fastball, Romine also showed some bite to his curveball and fading life on his changeup at 72 mph.

Danny Roth  SS - 2016 - West Hartford, CT
Roger Williams University

Roth impressed with his right-handed swing as he was able to create hard contact off the barrel with a relatively low effort swing. Staying short and compact to the ball Roth showed his strength to his pull side in batting practice and was able to show the hit tool in game as he was able to drive the ball the opposite way.

Sutton Young  RHP - 2016 - Woodbridge, VA
Uncommitted

Young showcased nice balance in his swing and was able to repeat it consistently from the right side, generating line drive contact all over the field with nice sound off the barrel both during his batting practice session and in live at-bats. Listed at 5-foot-11, Young also pitched and was up to 82 mph with his fastball.


2017 Top Prospects

Tyler Solomon  C - 2017 - Haymarket, VA
William & Mary/Florida Southwestern State College

Despite being one of the younger players in the top prospect poriton of the showcase, Solomon showed very well both with the bat and behind the plate. A switch-hitter and committed to Vanderbilt, Solomon showed solid bat speed and jump off the barrel from both sides while popping an impressive 1.88 and throwing an event high 78 mph from behind the plate.

Tommy Savastio  1B - 2017 - Mechanicsburg, PA
Mount St. Mary`s

Another rising junior, Savastio turned in the top first base velocity of the event showing 78 mph across the diamond showing a short and compact arm action in the back. With a quick and short stroke in the batter's box Savastio was able to create steady lift and life off the barrel while staying balanced throughout his swing.

Kris Kremer  SS - 2017 - Hershey, PA
Penn State

Kremer's arm strength certainly stood out from across the diamond as he unloaded on a top throw of 87 mph, good for best of the event showing both strength and carry. A right-handed hitter, Kremer also showed a short and quick swing through the zone showcasing a feel for the barrel while creating consistent contact to his pull side.
