Nicholas Shumpert

Shumpert has made some very positive adjustments to his swing and they showed in both games and batting practice. The changes are going to result in his being able to consistently get the barrel into the hitting zone sooner, which with his raw bat speed is going to mean a serious jump in power production. Shumpert's speed and arm strength play at a high level.
Blake Perkins

Perkins showed an outstanding all around set of tools, running a 6.7 in the sixty, throwing 86 from the outfield, then ranking as one of the top handful of hitters at the event. He has an especially quiet and balanced approach at the plate and hit the ball hard to all fields. Perkins had six hits in the two showcase games, which is pretty impressive just by itself.
Garrett Wolforth
C - 2015 - Spring, TX

Wolforth is a very interesting athlete, with lots of quick twitch muscles on his projectable 6-2/175 frame. He popped an eye opening 1.79 in drills and threw an equally impressive 91 mph in infield workouts. The Texas native also showed real bat speed from both sides of the plate, especially left handed.
Jordan Stephens

Stephens doesn't stand out physically at first with his young 5-10/165 build but he has big tools and skills, especially on offense, where he can drive the ball hard to the alleys with surprising strength. He has a strong arm and will be able to stay in the middle infield defensively at the college level.
Tyler Williams

Williams swung the bat well and with power, showing his ability to pull the ball hard in batting practice and drive the ball deep to the opposite field in games. His running speed also impacts the game, as does his high energy and enjoyment for playing.
Rudy Karre

Karre is a very good all around athlete and shows flashes in all five tool areas, plus some ability on the mound. He'll need to learn to play the game with less effort, especially when swinging the bat, but he can impact the game in a number of ways and play most positions on the field well.

Priwin stood out for his strength and physical maturity, along with his 6.7 speed in the sixty and his strong arm from the outfield. Where he could make his mark at the next level is with his power potential, as the ball comes off his barrel hard and with lift.

Davis has a nice all around tool set for a middle infielder, with 6.9 speed in the sixty, a strong throwing arm from shortstop and some present gap power from the right side with the bat. He's a slender 6-0/165 athlete and should keep improving as he gets stronger.
Ryan Hunt
RHP - 2015 - Post Falls, ID

Hunt showed off his arm strength, topping out at 87 mph and sitting in the mid-80's. He also threw a 74 mph slider that was a quality pitch that hitters couldn't handle and filled up the strike zone with both pitches. He's a strong young man with present stuff.
Grant Townsend

Townsend has a quick arm that got his fastball up to 85 mph from a mid-3/4's arm slot. He also showed three other pitches in a changeup, curveball and slider that showed quality at times. When he learns to get his fastball down in the zone better and mix his four pitches, he'll be very tough to hit.
Jake Foster
C - 2015 - North Salt Lake, UT

Foster was one of the stronger players at the event, with a chiseled 6-4/215 build. He's surprisingly mobile behind the plate defensively, with good blocking skills and a quick release on his throws. His strength works well in his swing, which is short and direct to the ball.
Roy Harrod
RHP - 2015 - Moreno Valley, CA

Harrod has a nice, loose 6-1/180 build and a quick arm from a high 3/4's slot that produced a fastball up to 85 mph. His out pitch was a sharp 73 mph slider that he commanded well.
Jared Nelson

Nelson has some work to do with the bat but his defense impacted both games he caught, as he threw out at least four runners trying to steal with very accurate, quick throws and blocked very well on balls in the dirt.

Nelson is a primary outfielder with a projectable 6-1/160 build and a right handed bat that showed well in BP and in games. But he was more impressive on the mound, with a fastball up to 82 mph from a deceptive delivery and two secondary pitches in his curveball and change up that really stood out. A bit more velocity and he's a legit pitching prospect.
Cole Lemmel

Lemmel is a nice athlete who has centerfield tools on defense, including 6.8 speed in the sixty and a strong throwing arm to go with very sound defensive fundamentals. He showed flashes with his swing from the right side and should keep improving with additional strength.
Nick Quintana

Quintana is simply on of the better hitters nationally in the 2016 class, with an outstanding combination of strength, bat speed and hitting mechanics. What position he ends up playing is an open question, although his arm strength is starting to develop nicely, too.
Chase Sandman

Sandman gained notoriety this fall by striking out 19 batters at the PG/EvoShield Underclass Championship and its easy to see why. The sophomore is extremely polished, with the ability to throw his 81-83 mph fastball to spots and then put hitters away with a big breaking 72 mph slider. Sandman is also a very good athlete, especially with his defense in the outfield.
Chad McClanahan
1B - 2016 - Scottsdale, AZ

This Arizona sophomore could be fun to watch develop with the bat. McClanahan stands 6-4/175 and has a loose, fast swing at the plate with lots of natural lift. He's going to have some serious power from the left side of the plate when he fills out and gets strong.
Najee Gaskins
OF - 2016 - Vail, AZ
Arizona Western College
Gaskins is a slender young sophomore with very sound, balanced hitting mechanics and the ability to square up the ball consistently. He went 3-4 in one game at the plate and stood out in batting practice, so watch out when he starts to get strong. Gaskins also ran a 6.8 in the sixty.
Sahid Valenzuela
IF - 2016 - Castroville, CA

Valenzuela will need to add some strength to his slender 5-9/140 build but he has nice athletic actions and strong fundamentals in all areas on the field. He looked especially good at the plate, where he has nice barrel/ball skills from both sides of the plate and made consistent solid contact.
Boyd Vander Kooi

It's way too early to figure out what position the 6-3/180 Vander Kooi might end up playing by the time he's a senior but he has a very athletic build and lots of young tools. He was up to 83 mph on the mound but also showed very good bat speed
Blake Paugh

Paugh has the swing mechanics and present strength to compete with older players offensively right now. He squares the ball up consistently right now and has the strength and swing to get the ball in the air and up the gaps. He's already a 7.3 runner, so he could expand beyond first base to the corner outfield positions as he gets older, too.
