2013 Top Prospects

Michael Cruz  C - 2013 - Aguadilla, PR
Clarendon College

Showed off big power both in BP and in games, big time bat speed with strength and leverage from the left side of the plate. Strong arm defensively, popped a 1.81 in C workout.

2014 Top Prospects

Kevin Rivera  SS - 2014 - Barceloneta, PR
Broward CC

Legitimate switch hitting ability, good bat speed from both sides. Not only does he have power potential from both sides of the plate but he showed well defensively at shortstop.

Luis Ramos  RHP - 2014 - Gilbert, AZ
Cisco Junior College

Dominant outing, showed good movement on and command of upper 80s fastball, topping out at 88. Pitches quickly, confident approach, attacked hitters early in counts, quality low 80s changeup with good fading action, changed speeds well. Flashed potential with breaking ball as well, potential for three quality pitches, good pitchability.

Hudson Treu  RHP - 2014 - Houston, TX
Pepperdine

Tied for event best velocity with an 88 mph fastball. Projectable arm, good late life on the two seamer, low effort delivery and good command. Big fading action on changeup, good depth on 11-5 curveball, solid offspeed stuff to go with the velocity and size.

Devon Wilson  SS - 2014 - Houston, TX
Southeast Missouri State/San Jacinto CC

Quick all around actions, ran a sub 7.00 60 yard dash, lit up the radar gun with an event best 91 mph throw across the infield (3 mph shy of the all-time record held by 1st rounder Caleb Kowart) and quick hands at the plate to show well in BP.

Trey Turner  OF - 2014 - Seneca, MO
Crowder College

Showed ability all over the diamond and was arguably the most versatile player in attendance. Turner popped a 1.90 with an 80 mph velocity from behind the plate during the catcher workout. He also threw 91 mph from the OF and pitched well while working 80-83 on mound with a good 73 mph slider. He ran a 6.96 60 yard dash and swung the bat well in games, smashing a triple to the warning track in right center during his final at bat.

JD Andreessen  C - 2014 - Depew, NY
Campbell

Hit a home run to left field off of one of the top pitching prospects in attendence. Stood out in BP for pullside pop as well, posted solid workout numbers with a 1.96 pop time and 76 mph velocity behind the plate.

Nicholas Padilla  RHP - 2014 - Bronx, NY
Grayson County College

Threw three different pitches for strikes, topped out at 86 mph on the fastball and showed good spin rate on his curveball which flashed depth and bite. Solid changeup as well, solid with the bat as well, very good showing.

Somto Egbuna  SS - 2014 - Stone Mountain, GA
Savannah State

Strong athletic player with solid defensive actions. Stood out with the bat, short swing with good contact ability to all fields with strength at contact, very good in-game at bats and a solid round of BP. Didn't jump off the page with workout results but stood out in games. Had flown somewhat under the radar in the past, in part because his July birthday makes him one of the youngest players in the class of 2014, but he made a strong impression this weekend, interesting player to follow.

Edwin Lebron Gonzalez  C - 2014 - Fajardo, PR
DMACC

Lacks the polish of some of the other players on this list, but has equally high level potential. Popped a 1.87 in the workout with an event best 83 mph velocity from behind the plate. As he refines his game and his skills begin to catch up to his physical tools he has a chance to develop into a high level prospect, both behind the plate and with the bat.

Jose Antonio Rodriguez  SS - 2014 - Naguabo, PR
Uncommitted

Projectable strength, likely to develop some power with the bat. Arm should play at third base where he projects long term, was solid at short and handles the position well at this level. Bat stood out both in games and in BP.

Steven Wells  OF - 2014 - Key West, FL
Florida State/Santa Fe College

Really stood out defensivley in games. Made two double plays in one game, cutting down a runner attempting to score on a sacrifice fly to right and also on a diving catch coming in from center field. Threw 89 mph from the outfield and has some remaining projection in his arm. Hitting tools to project, still refinining his swing but has a chance to really hit if he puts it together.

Gilberto Rodriguez  C - 2014 - Juncos, PR
Miami-Dade College

Posted an event best 1.80 pop time with an 82 mph throwing velocity. He took a very aggressive approach into the catcher workout, attacking the baseball and getting rid of it quickly with good velocity on his throws.

Justin Jones  SS - 2014 - Kathleen, GA
Georgia State

Made several nice defensive plays in games at shortstop, threw 86 mph across in the infield workout. Showed some pop in spite of a short swing that is more geared toward contact.

Brandon Laboy  C - 2014 - Coral Springs, FL
Volunteer State CC

Strong bodied catcher who popped a 1.94 in the catcher workout with a strong top velocity of 78 mph. Has strength in his swing, drives the ball well.

Milton Rivera  2B - 2014 - Humacao, PR
Uncommitted

Big time tools, has shown better in the past but the physical capacity continues to be impressive.

Gerrio Rahming  OF - 2014 - Rabun Gap, GA
Columbus State

Long projectable frame, long projectable arm action with good arm strength already, 89 mph in OF workout.

Chad Foster  RHP - 2014 - Roswell, GA
West Georgia

Topped out at 85 mph with an athletic delivery and good depth on his 11-5 curveball, which he threw for strikes.

Brandon Campos  C - 2014 - Florida, NY
Villanova

Posted a 1.91 pop time in the catcher workout, short swing with solid bat speed and a good contact approach at the plate.

Solid present raw power, chance to develop into game power as he refines his swing and approach. Athletic, runs well, 6.80 60 yard dash.

2015 Top Prospects

Zack Kone  SS - 2015 - Boca Raton, FL
Duke

Kone was certainly no stranger to PG, having played in high level tournaments like the Underclass World Championship as a member of the South Florida Elite Squad all year long, but this was his first showcase and he certainly didn't disappoint. He ran a 6.83 60 yard dash and threw 87 mph across the diamond in the infield workout (second highest velocity of the event), he also had a good showing on Sunday when he went 2-for-3 with a double.

Bakari Gayle  OF - 2015 - Stone Mountain, GA
Augusta University

High upside athlete, very long projectable build. Long swing generates good bat speed, good power potential, beginning to tap into that power already. High ceiling young player to follow.

Kyle Arjona  RHP - 2015 - Cape Coral, FL
New Orleans

Touched 87 mph with his fastball working from a high 3/4 arm slot. Flashed quality 12-6 curveball in the low 70s and a solid straight changeup.

Hunter Whitman  LHP - 2015 - Palm Beach Gardens, FL
North Florida

Very projectable lefty, still young and raw with timing and rhythm of his delivery, but the body and arm are both very projectable. Topped out at 82 mph but very loose arm action and low effort delivery, really has a chance to develop.

Jake Allen  C - 2015 - Charlottesville, VA
Uncommitted

Jake Anchia  C - 2015 - Miami Lakes, FL
Nova Southeastern

Glenn Diaz  OF - 2015 - Toa Alta, PR

Louisville

Blake Maddox  C - 2015 - Tyler, TX
University of Texas at Tyler/Tyler Junior College

2016 Top Prospects

Ezekiel Bear  3B - 2016 - Cypress, TX
Uncommitted

Big physical left handed hitter, showed impressive raw power for a freshman and enough ability with the hit tool for it to play a bit already. Still has a ways to go with developing as a pure hitter but certainly advanced for his class.

Caleb Armstrong  RHP - 2016 - Monroe, LA
Louisiana-Lafayette

Very impressive velocity for his age and size, topping out at 85 mph. Projects well, spun curveball well, reaching 73 mph. Has a chance to be a high level 2016 prospect, showed some potential with the bat as well and reinforced the impression of his raw athleticism by running a 6.91 60 yard dash. It is unusual to find a freshman with this level of ability already. Struck out eight in his three innings of work on the mound, one to watch. Toss up for #1 ranking in this class, more of a 1A than 2.

Bryce Van Horn  RHP - 2016 - Cape Coral, FL
Nova Southeastern

Tall projectable frame, long arm action, good extension from high 3/4 arm slot. Good tempo to delivery, threw a lot of strikes, solid offspeed stuff, fastball up to 80 with more to come.

Connell Boyle  SS - 2016 - Johnson City, TN
Uncommitted

Quick feet behind the plate, accurate throws, posted 1.97 workout pop time, with solid present arm strength (77 mph on C throwdown). Good extension to swing.
